you don't have a lot of time. You should have been studying way before now.

saunder and kaplan.. i studied for 3 mos before my RN boards.. took kaplan review class and did 4,000 questions.. passed / 75 questions.. good luck and keep us posted

If you are testing in a few days, it is way too late to be starting now. you should be at the end of your preparation, not just starting at this time. You may wish to consider delaying your exam if you have not already started to prepare by this time.

Moving your thread to the NCLEX Forum that we have here.

Best of luck on your exam.

Anna83--Are you just beginning to study? I agree with the other posts---I began studying about 3 months before I tested.

Saunders Nclex RN was quite comprehensive, Kaplans was also helpful but not as thorough.

Hope this helps.

I would have to agree-I started ATI in November, have been working on that and studying Saunders for weeks now. I test on the 26th and still feel quite paniced. IMHO you need lots more time to prepare! :) Good luck!

I think it is individual.

I could NEVER have studied for weeks/months- that is what I went to school for all that time...to be prepared for it when I was done.. I barely made it through a day of studying when I took the exam ( and yes I passed).

If you feel confident enough that you just need a quick once over with questions then I would purchase a book that is questions only ( Saunders makes one that is Q+A only)because I doubt you'd get through a comprehensive review in time.

I should have been clearer when posting....I have been studying..well, not studying but REVIEWING about a couple of months now. I graduated in December so I know my stuff! I have been an LVN for 3 years now..just a little nervous about the upcoming test. I have been speaking to other students who have taken the NCLEX and some has told me that Kaplan was more helpful and that Saunders questions were a little too easy and not very similar to the NCLEX questions, therefore, I was wanting a little more input from others out there. Thanks.

Hi Anna, yes you should have been more clearer when you posted your message, even me i instantly felt a big "WHAT?????" with my eyes wide open upon reading it. hahahaha.

Anyway, we believe that you're already prepared to take the exam and just a bit anxious. I guess you just need a crash review on what you'ved studied during your review. And we hope that it includes Kaplan strategies, Kaplan trainer & Mosby prioritization & delegation book.

P.S: Stay calm, deep breath & don't rush yourself on answering each question.

Goodluck to you & God Bless!:w00t:

I think 3 months is too long to be preparing for the nclex. Actually it depends on you and how much you have retained.

I would suggest you postponing your test date and doing Suzanne's plan which uses the Saunders review book. You need at least 45 days to prepare using this plan, plus digesting time... to take it all in. As Suzanne has said to me, you don't want to be cramming up until the end.

Good luck!

Ok, and then when I read on in the posts, I see that you have been studying, etc... So good luck to you, and wish me luck. I need it as I'm retesting! THANKS! and GOOD LUCK!!!

I think NCLEX is totally individual based... like for me, I feel I could have leanred ALOT more in school...because all of my time Ive been putting into studying I have certainly learned a lot more than I did in school, it helps tremendously that I have devoted every single day to studying. I have been putting in up to sometimes 8 hours a day! In school we never even did much of NCLEX.. my school was very disorganized and we never did an exit or HESI exam... knowing all of this I have put all of this effort into relearning and learning so I can make I pass... so I think a lot of NCLEX prep is the individual as well as how much they leanred in school. Im very anal retentive when it comes to studying, I shut off all exterior world and devote myself to this .. others might only put in 2 hours a day ... so good luck in your studies and so far I cannot decide which books are better than others because they are all soooooo different. I did well with Saunders, but then when I did HUrst Review I did poorly. I also did Prentice Hall which was really informative.. have also done Lippincotts as well as Exam Cram plus Pharm. Im working on Mosbys right now ... so I would suggest to cover as much ground as possible. I have done a bit of kaplans but I found it easy and I needed more in depth questions ... so far I have a ton of notes and doing well ... good luck to you! Let us know the outcome !! I take mine 2.8!
