Looking for an action plan. I made in the Fundamentals HESI a 69.48%. At mid semester, I took the HESI Fund and got 70%. I am in my second career and it has been over 20 years that I took Human Anatomy and Physiology which my school validated for Hum Anat part I. I took the Hum Anat II last semester. Also, my school does not offer or require Nutrition and Medical Terminology. I do not have a clinical experience.
I am schedule to continue to my second semester in a week. My classmates increase their score within 8 weeks from the mid semester by about 200-300 points. I did pass my class thanks to my good score in my work. I am dissatisfied with my outcome. After careful consideration and making an internal SWOT analysis of myself, I think it will be best for me to hold off the summer semester and give myself the opportunity to review and read a human anatomy and physiology, nutrition, and medical terminology to strengthen my understanding when I take the HESI.
I am seeking any positive or negative constructive feedback or suggestions.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Ok, so this was you are new to HESI exams. A lot of people in my class struggled with HESI in the beginning and got better over time. The thing that you need to know is how to answer the questions. HESI has a review book and with it's review book there is an access code for evolve. Use it! The questions for each section in study mode will give you HESI style questions and rationale for each. Not just why the right answer is right, but the why the wrong answered are not right. Also in the book, there are reviews of important material (the book is only 300 pages) and green HESI hint boxes. Now these because they will show up. On all of my HESI except the Exit HESI, Some of the questions from the study tutorial online were either identical or covered the same content.
My fundamental I passed but it was not a score that I would be proud of. It was on a bunch of information that I should have know from when I went to LPN school 15 years earlier. Well, I found out that a lot of what was common practice back then is no longer the best practice today...relearning had to take place. I also took my A+PI and II and micro 15 years or so earlier. I reviewed the review in the med surg text each time before studying but honestly, there would be no need to retake those courses. I scored 1100-1300 on the med surg/pharm/exit HESI.
Learn the material in class, review with the HESI book and questions, and get used to HESI style questions would be my recommendation. Good luck!
