need acute care experience job

I am preparing for the clinical for my online Rn college. The problem is my last med surge job was about 30 years ago and I feel the need for new med surg experience. I am in northern calif and it seems like everyone wants minimum of one year recent experience. I am desperate for that experience, will take reduce pay,or travel out of state. My recent experience is in psych, which doesnt help me much towards my clinical exam. I am just starting to build confidence with care plans but they may be a weakness too. I am an Lvn. What must I do, where do I go to get that med surg experience? Will working in a skill nursing facility get me much closer to accomplinshing that goal? I plan to talk to my advisors too. Frank
