NCTC ADN Fall 2014

I just wondering if there are others out there applying this May for the Fall 2014 class. I just found out I have everything to apply at NCTC but with a B in A&P I I only have 10 points and I'm not sure if I will make the cut. Anyone else?

I live in krum temporaryly but from ponder, interested to know if you have kids cause we may know each other!!

You want to apply as a PCT patient care tech in a hospital, also the state school in denton hires techs all the time they are called direct care personal great benefits! They have critical care units were the techs are super hands on!

I was told that sitting is a good entry position. However, I think after 1 semester of nursing school, you can find work as a CNA or PCT.

I have 3 kids trans2RN. Ages 11 9 and 8.

Ok thanks everyone! And that's true Twishes, it said on a lot of CNA applications that they accept anyone who's been through first semester clinicals in rn school.

Cool mine are 2,4,8,12 it's very likely we know each other to some degree!

Jls- what is the "blue card" all about?

Where did the blue card thing come from?

Hello everyone,

I've been on vacation so I'm sorry that I have been slow to respond. You won't need an NCLEX book for class unless you just want the practice questions. Honestly, your test questions come from the information in the book so you may be better off spending your time in the class book rather than on practice questions. I still think it will be better for you to get the box of books rather than trying to buy everything individually. There are codes in there for online things like Kaplan and SimChart that aren't physical books and you will have to buy those, in addition to the physical books and the online codes for the books if you don't get the box.

The blue card is a card you get back after you complete your background check. It basically says that your background is clear. You have to show this to the school of nursing before you can begin classes and you have to keep it and show it to the board of nursing when you go to get your license. It took about a month for my blue card to come in, so as soon as you get the info to go do your finger prints and background you need to take care of it!

jls0459,

I do want to get an NCLEX book, because I want to practice questions and get used to nursing rationales.

I am trying to decide between Kaplan and Sander's. I know that NCTC does a KAPLAN review at the end of nursing school. Do they also use Kaplan exit exams for each semester?

In your second semester, you will do a lot in Kaplan. There are assignments on Kaplan and you'll take a mid-curricular exam that is also through Kaplan. We also do have to take the Kaplan review so you may just want to stick with Kaplan!

Good news everyone! My friend was at the office today and the lady said they were mailing out packets today or tomorrow morning. Be on the look out!
