NCLEX TIPS?? Taking it in 2 days, eeek.....

Published

I am taking my Nclex in 2 days and I am starting to freak out. I have done all the Saunders, Kaplan, ATI, etc....questions. I only get about 55% though. I have been reading posts and know it's all priortity, delegation, etc.....

just didn't know if anyone out there that has recently taken it has some specific tips, things that may help me answer questions, topics or meds that you had? Any responses will be HELPFUL!!!

Thanks!!!

At this point you need to relax and practice your relaxation techniques. Good luck.

I'm taking it next week & totally flipping out. To top it off, I'm trying to plan a wedding...and now after numerous phone calls about stuff w/my family, they are now afraid to call me... ;)

The only advice I've heard, is to make sure to read through each question thoroughly, KNOW what the question is asking, before answering it. It's one thing I continuously find myself making stupid mistakes, when I go back to answer a question that I got wrong.

Also, my preceptor (I love her) told me the following:

- Take the day before the test off. No studying.

- Have my fiancee take me out for a nice dinner, with one glass of wine

- Get to bed early

- Take the test in comfy clothes/sweats

- Do something nice for yourself afterwards. (I'm looking forward to my first pedicure in 6 months! - gross, I know!)

Hang in there, I'm in the same boat. We can do this! Look at how many people have come before us! :)

hi.are u gonna take it on 22?mine is on 23rd.im starting to freak out too.i usually get 55 - 70;'s...on kaplan my lowest is 56% and highest is 64%...i dont know what to do right now.

just try to relax!!! everyone has different topics but definately know infection control....lots of prioritization, delegation on the test....i actually had a lot of psych questions....review your dosage...i only had 3 but still thats 3 right answer if ya know what youre doin!!! lots of select all that apply....look at each answer like true and false....dont freak out if ya have meds you have never seen before bc i surely did...just use critical thinking the best you can and take your time....usually if 2 answers are almost identical they are usually not the answer....just breathe and think...youre almost there!! good luck!

I am taking mine on the 22nd. Nervous but my school made me do all kinds of questions throughout my career and then we had to take the comprehensive HESI at the end. I passed the HESI with flying colors (needed an 850 and got a 973!). I have been doing about 150 questions out of the Saunders book ever since I got my ATT last week. Today I memorized lab values for K, Na, Hct, Hgb, ABG's, Bilirubin, WBC's, BUN etc. So tomorrow I am just going to briefly go over some stuff and then plan my day for Wednesday. I have a few other classmates who have taken it and they have all passed! We CAN DO THIS!!

The day before the test, I say don't completely blow off studying. Atleast go over your lab values or a few notes... SOMETHIN'. I couldn't have peace of mind if I did nothing NCLEX related right before the big test.

I agree... review your labs and remember to stay calm.:)

I also casually reviewed my norms the day before and even at bkfst the day of, just my own index cards that got me through nursing school. You can't take any study stuff into the test center, not in your bag into the waiting room or anything, so that's a good thing

Trying to force myself to be calm makes me super anxious. I just tried to NOT freak out! Kept my anxiety on a low boil, just went with it, ate really well, casually reviewed my index cards, took walks, rested a lot on the couch, went to bed not too early, didn't freak out that I barely slept, just tried to roll w/ everything and conserve my cool and my energy.

The only real antidote to the anxiety is taking the dang test!!

Seriously, know your norms and know your fundamentals and with all that test prep you have done you will be fine.

I got the good pop up - just waiting till tomorrow when I can access the "quick results" - it is just a big long period of trying to manage anxiety!

Peace & best of luck!

Thanks everyone! It all the same stuff I have been hearing. I am going to just go over labs, etc...do some reading the day before and just hope I'm on my game the day of the test!

Good luck to everyone out there taking it!!
