Just curious...how many people let their friends and family know a head of time that they are taking the test on a certain date? Do you tell everyone or just a select few...just in case of of the worst case scenario (not passing) I was just wondering :)

I think it is better not to say anything except to maybe one or two people. Then you don't have to be embarrassed if you don't pass.
Ha that is exactly what I am thinking!

I was so excited to be FINALLY taking the NCLEX (my school sent out our applications late so we all waited 9 weeks before we could register) that I told everyone. :yeah:i took the nclex 27 april in san diego. it shut off at 85 and I had 12 SATA. now it looks like i have a 5-6 week wait to find out my results. so I'm not sure I'm glad I told everyone! i think i did good, but who knows! If i failed it's going to be so embarrassing and disappointing to tell all my friends and family

hi..this is my third try, i already scheduled for next week...only my husband knows about my schedule...i didnt tell my parents because i dont want them to be pressure & worry again if i fail (passing the nclex will be a great surprise for my mom on mothers day)..most of my friends were already RN on their first try, & i was really embarrased after failing the second time and not talking to them anymore..hoping for miracles,,

it's better not to tell anybody. sure at first they will be supportive. but what if you didn't pass the first time or already took the exam many times and you didn't pass?
some people will still support you no matter what but some people too will be superficial supporting you but really expecting you to pass it asap. it's better to keep quiet until you got your license.....less pressure and expectations....

I don't want people asking me if I'm nervous about taking the test (especially as it gets closer to my date) or if I've passed it. The only people who know are my husband, my best friend and a coworker of mine whom I trust not to tell anyone else. The first time I took the NCLEX, what I noted above is exactly what happened. I had people asking me for months after I had failed how I had done on the test. It was a constant reminder! So, this next time around -- only a select few will know.

i did told my family and friends but i now regret doing so, only because they keep on asking about my results. I took the test on april 13, in california so you all already know that i have to wait 4 wks if not more....

I haven't taken it yet, but I don't plan on telling people. My S.O. will know and I promised I'd let my manager know so she could plan accordingly with regards to staffing if I should pass. Aside from that, I don't plan to tell my family or even my closest friends. I know they would be supportive, but I graduated ten years ago and have put enough pressure on myself, I'm not going to add more! It would be very awkward for me if I didn't pass and had to keep telling everyone (and everyone they told) that I failed.
People at work know I'm studying and already they are asking when I'm going to test. I just keep saying "tomorrow." It's funny because their first reaction is good luck which is quickly followed with astonishment that I'd work a 12 hour night, drive over an hour to the nearest test site and then take the exam! Then their brain processes just how insane that would be and finally they question my truthfulness. It's a cheap amusement.
