NCLEX in Taiwan..HELP!

Published

Hi Everyone! I am taking my exam in Taiwan because I cant get an early date for a HK test site. Looks like Id be spending so much more for this trip. First I have to apply for a Taiwan visa-$36 I think, I dont even know how to go about this, no travel agency here in Bacolod helps with the visa issuance! BUMMER...then airfare is $348 via Philippine Airlines, $398 if China Air...geeeez tooo expensive plus accomodations, etc. huhuhu Please if anyone out there can advice me on how to lessen my expenses, message me. I am really not familiar with the packages with travel agencies, though I went to 2 travel agencies, they do not have special promotions for Taiwan. Also, I hope someone would be kind enough to share their Taiwan NCLEX experiences... Thank you so much guys!! Any input would be appreciated.

slots in HK easily fill up. but, they open slots as the test date is getting nearer. sometimes they open it in batches... just be vigilant in checking the schedules in the website from time to time coz there are test takers who reschedule/ cancel their exams... just an advice.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this kathykaye..yes ive been constantly checking HK for their schedules, right now all they have is sept 4 and the next is like Nov 29, *sigh* my att is expired by then...oh my....now i just called up Taiwan consulate, asked for the requirements for a visa....geeeeez they still need a bank statement from me proving that I can afford to travel. Problem is that I have no savings on my account because I only depend on my parents as of the moment cos Im not working. So I asked if its alright to get an affidavit of support or something like that, they said yes that can be...but *sigh* again....Its a lot of work to apply for a Taiwan visa plus the visa fee of P1950....I feel so helpless and this has taken a lot of energy from me, energy that I need on the BIG day...

did you check on saipan (northern mariana)? if there's an available date for saipan in pearson's website and if you're interested, call the office of continental micronesia airlines office in makati about the nclex travel package for nurses. no need for a travel agency. if there's an available flight, reserve the test schedule in pearson's website and book your flight. flights are on sundays and thursdays only (there used to be tuesdays too). late evening flights, arrive in saipan around 4 early morning, rest and stay overnight, sit for the exam the day after, pay for an extra night or two while waiting for the return flight. you will need to call and fax documents (ATT, NBI clearance, travel itinerary, passport, etc.) to saipan immigration office for the visitor's entry permit (unless you have a multiple entry tourist visa to the US). ask the continental airlines office for the info and other details.

but, if you still have enough time to wait for an open slot in hk, then it's a better choice than going through taiwan's and saipan's travel procedure.

goodluck!

*sigh* I wish I can do Saipan but I can not opt for that testing center because I am on a tight budget. I have already paid for that $150 extra charge for international test site. In addition to that, my family is sort of complaining about the costs of all these, not getting enough support from them now. Its very frustrating, to be dependent on other people especially if you feel that it seems like a burden on them to be helping you out.

Resolved my dilemma!~! I have been constantly checking on availability of schedules in HK, practically almost every 10 minutes...hahaha well, I got lucky, found a slot for Ocotber, not so bad at all. :jester:

Congrats. It's really worthwhile to always check in HK for slots because you will be saving so much more than other testing sites. You can still continue checking the HK test slots once in a while. There will be more opening up on a day-to-day basis, even in one day. I remember, changing sched 3-4x in a day until I got the BEST day and time I want and on off-peak days too. There are certain days in a week where the hotel is cheaper and certain months where flights to HK are also cheaper. You will know this once you get to pick the dates on your flights. It varies depending on the dates. I really recommend booking you flight online.

There are only 2 local carriers going to HK and you can see their scheds and price on their on-line website.

Last advice as well. Book your flight at least 1 month before your schedule because you will be saving more if you book it way ahead of your test appointment. Likewise, make sure you arrive in HK at least 24 hours before your test date so that you can check out the testing site and this also will make sure that if something goes wrong such as delayed or cancelled flights due to storms or something you have some time to re-sched the appointment or workout the next possible flight. This has happened very recently.

just dont forget about your parents when you land a job overseas.....im sure your parents sacrificed a lot of money for your education the same way my parents did....

congrats on getting that NCLEX October slot......dont take the exam for granted and dont forget to pray
