How I passed the Nclex RN my first time:
I used Kaplan and Excell nursing review (I got Excell materials from my friend). Believe me you can pass the first time if you actually take your time to study. I dedicated 1 month and 2weeks to study for NClex (I still had a social life lol). I thought the Excell review content was Really-Really-Really helpful and for Kaplan I focused more on the Qbank and Trainers. I started off failing the Qbank test getting 40 something % but after I studied the Excell content for one week I started getting 60s and high 50s on the Qbank. I finished the entire Qbank questions and practiced more questions on the internet. Don't worry too much about your scores on Trainers 6 & 7 cause I got 54% and 50% respectively and still passed.
You don't have to study everyday but my advice is 2 weeks before the test date, reread all the content you've studied before and do a lot of practice questions. For 2 weeks, study everyday and rest on weekends. I did it for one week and I felt overwhelmed because I felt I had so much to study and so little time. So 2 weeks is better. Studying with my friends helped me a lot and reading the success stories on here was nice too.
I believe if you want to take the Nclex you have to be MENTALLY PREPARED for it. NO joke!!! It was nerve racking taking the test and I cried several times. In fact the entire process of studying and thinking 'will I pass or will I fail' is nerve racking. 2 weeks to the test I started telling myself everyday that I WILL PASS and it helped calm my nerves. Took the test July 15th, 265 questions later I walked out the testing center convinced that I had failed the test. I went home to try the PVT and I got the good pop-up. Two days later, I checked my result and I passed.
If I can do it, you can too!!!!
