NCLEX 1st Attempt

Published

I have been reading a lot of posts on here! Seems like quite a few people talk about failing the NCLEX and 2nd attempt people on here, Just wondering what advice there is for this new plan 2010 NCLEX?? What to expect, how to prepare. I have already taken the HESI, participated in the 3 day Evolve NCLEX review class now wondering what I should do to have my ducks in a row for JUNE 21!!!!:uhoh3: What advice can the people who have taken and passed this newer version of the NCLEX offer? What can the 2nd timers offer?? Any advice would be greatly greatly greatly appreciated, as not only do I have the normal stress and nerves about this test, but also have a job already lined up. So i am pretty sure i need to pass the 1st attempt. Thanks in advance

By now no one should be stressing themselves over the new format of the test. It is a done deal and all you can do is to prepare for the exam as it is, not what could have been, had you tested before the cutoff date. The biggest difference when preparing for a retest, is to give oneself enough time and to prepare as if one had never tested before, covering everything. Don't fall for the trap of thinking that you already know a topic and gloss over things. It is all important the second time around, because you have no idea what will be asked the second or third time, any more than what you knew the first time around.

I know its easier said than done but try to relax. The day before the exam take some time out for yourself do nothing nurse related. I went for a massage:-). Do not second guess yourself, if you studied and prepared will you be fine. I am a nclex retaker and I plan to retake mine soon, here some good advice think positive, you know your stuff, and pray. Delegation, infection control and priority seems to be big topics. Good luck and dont forget to pray:-) keep us updated.

Thanks any other takers???

Fockr, I got my ATT yesterday and scheduled my test for June 22nd. Then was talking with my mother-in-law and husband and changed my test date to this coming Wednesday. This is my first attempt, which I am probably freaking out more than I should. I have been doing comprehensive tests and I also kicked but on my GN ATI predictor, 99% probability of passing my first time around on the NCLEX. My school the last 2 years have had a 100% pass rate, just sitting here typing this is making me more positive of passing.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Thats crazy!! part of me wants to reschedule, the other part wants to delay as long as i can! I am mainly looking for types of meds, if any? etc?

Our instructors have stressed taking it as early as possible. The longer you wait, you chances of passing the first time slowly decrease. I have also talked to another student who wishes he had gotten his ATT because he would have done the same thing. I am not the only one in my class to take the test so soon. There are a few others scheduled for the same day as me.

I also talked to a friend I graduated from high school with who is a nurse and she says I am not crazy for changing my date sooner than later. She says if you don't know your stuff now then you are screwed. And to do a bunch of practice questions to get used to how they are formatted.

Again, good luck. I wish you the best and keep us updated.
