During my time studying for the nclex rn i creeped really hard on this forum!
I was trying to pick up good study tips and figure out what it took to succeed.
Well here are my study materials and how i prepared.
I only prepared for 2 WEEKS! With working and everything else in between.
I would wake up at 6 am everyday and read and then at night do questions.
Materials used:
Hurst live review (took this in January and just read over the book for 2-3 days)
The infamous study guide on this site (really worked for mnemonics for precautions and such)
ATI ( i did 10 practice tests from their site, it was something offered through school )
Kaplan 2012-2013 Strategies, practice, and review ( I FEEL LIKE THIS HELPED ME PASS)
Exam Cram ( i think i wasted $$ on this :/)
So first day ever of studying all i did was read that study guide.
The next few days i read hurst and took notes on things i couldnt recall.
After reading hurst i then did the ATI practice tests for each nursing subject.
I read the whole kaplan book and then just the first 100 pages TWICE (day before my
exam also)
Exam cram is only good for that cram sheet and the pharmacology chapter (and any other subject you may have a tough time with)
I did 3 outta the 6 Hurst Q Reviews available and did the Kaplan practice test on the cd twice and one exam cram practice test from the cd. Oh and i also used NCLEX 4000 which i think really helped also.
In my opinion get a good content review book, that kaplan strategies book, nclex 4000 and that study guide and you may succeed!
I was one of those ppl who had to have "the talk" b/c i was doing AWFUL on ATI and now i can say i took the nclex in 75 questions, got the good pop up (numerous times) and hopefully when i check my quick results tomorrow i will have a PASS under my results!
