Welcome
Sorry to hear you didn't make it. I passed on third and found Saunders just before it and much preferred the book.

I am currently using Saunders 4th Edition and am really liking it.....having gone through the traditional review classes previously, I feel more prepared this time around and confident too...I would strongly suggest getting this book and using it along with the CD that comes with it......wishing you the best!!

My advice would be to review your test taking strategies..I find a lot of individuals who fail,it's not that they know the materials, but are lacking the skills. Practice, practice strategies when you are studying.

Sorry to hear you did not pass. I did Kaplan and Saunders 4th edition. I also made my own nclex review book. I wrote down some information about the quesiton and the rationale. I also had my lab values on 3/5 cards. For me, I found it easier for me to know the content, the test taking skills help some. Saunders 4th edition was great for pharm. I had at least 10 pharm questions on my boards and I saw the silimar questions on saunders. Good luck, take a break and then get back to studying.

I am sorry to hear that but do not give up! I am currently using Saunders and i have to agree with previous posts that it is the most comprehensive thus far that i have tried. The key is know your weaknesses when it comes to taking the test. And when you review the questions really look at what they are asking you. That was my biggest obstacle was trying to read through the fluff and get to the bulk of what they were asking (i.e. implementation, assessment, etc.).
Whatever guides you use, believe in yourself. We are our own worst critics. Take some time to regroup and start studying again after identifying what will work for you. You will pass. Believe in yourself..and dont give up!!
Good luck...

Sorry to read about your disappointments. I passed in January 2009. The most effective book for me was Kaplan, not because of the nursing knowledge part, but because the first 13 chapters deal with test taking techniques. For me that was the key to success. I used those techniques to do questions from a number of sources and they really worked.
Good luck!!

Also sorry to hear you did not pass. Many people say that the Saunders Comprehensive Review is the best book for study. Good luck.

I think you have plenty of knowledge, what you need is a book called Prioritization, Delegation by Linda LaCharity, it will train you to think as an RN. That's what I used and I passed my test the second time around. Good luck.
