NCLEX-PN 2017 testing advice!!!

Published

Good evening everyone😀 I'm enrolled to start ECPI/MCI Practical Nursing program May 2. I'm someone that likes to be prepared in advance just to stay on top of things. My question is should I order the Saunders NCLEX-PN 6e book this year even though I won't be testing until next year, or should I wait? I know I'll be way ahead of things, but I want to be studying and preparing for the testing day. While I am attending school I can look over the material and nothing would look new to me. Any advice will be greatly appreciated😀😀

I'll give you the same solid advice that was given to me here on AN. Just rest! Your program will most likely start at the basics and advance onto NCLEX prep down the road. No need to jump ahead to questions that you haven't learned the content on just yet. May 2 is around the corner- visit with friends, relax, do something nice for yourself. Your life is about to change. Congrats on starting the journey🙂

I think you might be jumping the gun somewhat. Nursing school prepares you to take NCLEX. There is no point in obtaining an NCLEX study book so early.

FYI, my former LVN program provided students with the NCLEX study book that they wanted us to use, so you may wish to wait a while before making this purchase.

Lol!!! Thank you for the advice. I'll wait and visit with family and friends, I'm excited and looking forward to this transition. Leaving a warehouse to become a nurse is a big career change.

What a coincidence...I left a factory job to become a nurse. This was back in 2004, though. However, I have no regrets about taking the plunge to switch careers.

Wow, I'm glad I made this decision. This year will be 10 yrs with this company and there's no room for growth. I want more for my kids and I.
