I just took the NCLEX-RN for the first time today. And even though it was a hard test I just wanted to let everyone know reading this that it's something that YOU can pass. I don't know for sure that I did but I tried the trick and I got the good pop-up. But It's not impossible to pass however, you have to believe. You have to believe that you got accepted into nursing school and made it to graduation for a reason. Take that and take the knowledge that you have gained while in school into the testing center with you. And use it while you take the test!
Another thing that I've found to be very helpful is this website. If you're stressed come here and read what other people have to say. In the few days leading up to the test this forum has helped me enormously. More so than people who aren't in our situation could ever understand. And it's one of the few things that have calmed me down. Goodluck to everyone who has the NCLEX in their future!

Awe thanks!!! What were your study tools?
I used Saunders 5th edition and pretty much read it cover to cover. I also did some questions online from RN 3500 I believe. I found the link on here but I couldn't tell you exactly where. The content in Saunders was good, however, the questions themselves weren't that good. The only thing they did was to reinforce the content. It didn't seem like they were NCLEX prep questions but that's just my opinion.

how many questions did you have? if you dont mind sharing that is.
I don't mind at all! I had 76 questions.
did you take breaks? and if so when?
I didn't take any breaks. I finished in about an hour and 15 mins. I was just so focused on getting done with the test that breaks didn't even cross my mind. If I had been in there longer though I would have taken them though.
Thanks! your post has been soo helpful to me. I just graduated and the pressure and nerves are awful. especially when trying to get a job at the same time.
I understand completely. And then to me it made me even more nervous when people kept saying I know you can do it or you'll be just fine. Because then I felt like well if I don't pass will I be disappointing them since they had so much faith in me? But I feel like nursing school has prepared you for this test. Now it's just a matter of sitting down and taking it and not letting your nerves get the best of you!
Was the NCLEX RN what you were expecting? or did you find yourself not breathing a few times. also, did you have lots of prioritization and select all the apply or hearing.auditory, picture questions. alternate format questions make me squirm. .
It was what i was expecting and then again it wasn't. I know that doesn't make a lot of sense but it's hard to put in words. Most of the questions I could get down to two answers that were incorrect immediately. But after that it was just an educated guess honestly. I tried to rationalize the answers and pick the answer that would be the safest for the nurse to implement. I had quite a few prioritization and select all that apply. I would say about 15 prioritization and 10 SATA. I had one math questions and no other alternate format. But the one thing that you have to realize is what I'm telling you right now could be the exact opposite of what you get on your NCLEX. That's what makes this test so difficult. It's completely individualized and if you read what other people got it could be the exact opposite.
did you feel the test was easier in the beginning and you sensed it getting harder?
ie , what was the first question like, and the first 5 hardness level wise. . .
