Good day! I am a nurse from the Philippines and now planning to take NCLEX and be a registered nurse in Illinois. You see, I already passed the CGFNS as well as the IELTS. I was wondering if I need to request CGFNS a Credential Evaluation Service since I already passed the exam. And, I also would like to know if I have to take also the TOEFL since as I mentioned earlier I already passed another english exam which is the IELTS.
hope for replies soon! thanks a lot

you need to have CES.
TOEFL may be waived by the Department/Division if your credentials evaluation report indicates your nursing
education program was conducted in English utilizing English Textbooks.
Thanks Kathykaye for the reply. so eventhough i submitted may CES and application forms without the TOEFL (if it is needed) it would be ok? How about the IELTS? so forums here indicates that IELTS is accepted. bit confused..
thanks!
read the link above carefully.. that's it!

you have to wait for your ces to be issued. if it says under your nursing education that the language of instructions was in english with english textbooks your toefl requirement may be waived. just apply and we'll see what cts will tell you in their correspondence. but before you submit your application forms make sure you really want to apply/work in illinois. so you wont waste time, money and effort in case you decide to endorse to other states.

with toefl and ielts, they will only ask for it if the RN exam in the country where u qualified is NOT in English. our exam in the philippines are 100% written in English. The Nursing subjects in school wer tought in english. I dont think they will ask you for more english exam such as ielts and toefl.

Hi tisoy! Did you say that you already passed the CGFNS exam and IELTS? If that's the case, you don't have to apply for the CES, because Illinois accepts CGFNS certificates. You just need to pass that one together with your application packet.
There is no alternate identification number. And you don't need an SSN number to take the NCLEX. BUT you cannot renew it unless you get one. Is that right suzanne?
Here is another link for the complete instructions when applying for licensure in Illinois..

you dont need to have SSN when you want to apply in IL. if you have one, write it there. but if you dont, leave it blank. after you pass the exam, they will send a form to you (application for license) and you're gonna send it back to them with a $50 bankdraft. after a few weeks, you'll gonna see your name on their website with a license number. they will also send the certificate and a hard copy license to your home address. they need the SSN once you renew your license.

Hello, for what I know TOEFEL is no longer needed if you already passed the IELTS exam. All you need is to send your resut to ICHP and since you have cgfns, you will receive cg certificate. Goodluck on your NCLEX exa,you will make it,just studyhard and continue praying.
