Nclex exams: My experience

Published

Just took the nclex exam today. Had 99 questions and the computer shut off. I started off saying where the hell did they get these questions from. I struggled through the entire exam. Some questions I knew them, others I had to think hard my blood pressure was up. I tried the nclex trick and boy all the payments went through and a receipt generated. I am having a Vfib right now. Someone calm me down please. I think I failed.

Many people initially think they failed the NCLEX but then find out they passed. Fingers crossed for you.

It's common to think that :)

Wait 24 hours or so to check with PVT, possibly too early to try if you just took it today.

Check the guide.

If it took your payment you probably didn't pass. I'm sorry. :(

Well, since you attempted to register for another exam (the trick) before all the scorings on your exam were finalized (which takes up to 24 hours), all you know for sure is that your first score was a 'fail'. That's why you could re-register, and you were charged $200.

Sometimes the second scoring of the NCLEX is a 'pass' even though the first was a 'fail'. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen enough that we caution people against playing the PVT before a full 24 hours has gone by.

At this point, one of two things could occur: your second score will match your first score, and you will have failed (and have already paid for the exam you will need to take again). OR, your second score will be a 'pass', in which case you will pass BUT will have thrown two hundred bucks out the window.

Hang in there, you'll know the true results soon enough.

I thought I heard that VUE changed their system and the "trick" no longer works? Or maybe that was just hearsay.

Boston, it still works, just had a few more steps added in.

You used to stop at the credit card page, and if you made it there, then you failed, but now you have to get passed that also.

Nah, just works differently since the registration software upgrade. Now everyone is sent to the credit card page; only upon submission do you get your first clue......which is why I've been writing what I wrote above----A LOT :)

The new rules are pretty simple, doesn't need much explanation really, but it's going to take awhile until everyone gets adjusted!
