Took the NCLEX today. I can't breathe!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

hi everyone,

i know there's a million posts like this, but i took the nclex this morning and i can't stand this torturous waiting game.

the computer shut off for me at 75 questions. i immediately went to my car and tried to register again and i got the "good" popup, but i'm hearing from some that this pearson trick doesn't work anymore. has anyone found that it didn't work for them? is anyone else waiting for results?

like everyone else who has been in my position, i'm extremely nervous. i haven't told anyone that i took the exam, so i hope i can get some comfort here. :) thanks for reading!

They say it's most accurate after 24hrs, but it was right for me right away.

that's a bit nerve-wracking then. my friend said that her name was posted on the don web site at 8am the morning after her exam, so i'm definitely going to be checking for that tomorrow.

Hi! And now it's time to calm down and breathe :)

First, and foremost, the PVT IS NOT VALID prior to 24 hours. The previous poster, and anyone else who says "it works right away" is only saying that their SECOND scoring matched their FIRST scoring, and they lucked out that it happened that way. Otherwise, they'd be here saying "it didn't work".

Because the exam is scored twice in a 24 hour period, the first results are the ones that people latch onto immediately after the exam. They then base "it works" or "it doesn't work" on that.....and that's too bad, because they are wrong.

*MOST* of the time, both scores do match. Yay! Or, at least, "Yay" if it's a pass! But if your first result is a 'pass' and some time during the next 24 hours it scores as a 'fail'.....it's a definitive fail.

If your first score is a fail, and you find out because you did the PVT too early (and blew $$ from your credit card or gift card or whatever), and then your NEXT score is a 'pass', it's great that you PASSED but will have donated non-refundable money to Pearson Vue. Bad business plan, that.

Besides, it's hard to watch people cheering they passed an hour after taking their exam, only to come back and say "I FAILED!! WHAT HAPPENED??" :( People have accepted jobs they've had to call back and refuse. Sad.

ALSO hard to watch are those who cry, are so upset because they FAILED.....and two days later they are declaring the PVT "didn't work for them" because....yes....they PASSED! And the rest of us know that's because they were on the fence on their first score, and the second one was a better outcome for them :)

At any rate, take a breather now, WAIT awhile, and see what happens. If your State BoN posts fast, you might not have to wait for Quick Results anyway :)
