Time Ran Out! (NCLEX-RN)

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello everyone.. new here. yes I need to change my screen name because when I picked, "nurse" I was referring to student nurse.. or even IP. That's how Kaplan referred to the class... as "nurses".. But I digress...

I'm in anxiety, mild-depression mode. Yes I guess it's the typical, I cried all the way home from the exam story.. but it's my 2nd time.. I have to say the first time I went in with only attending Kaplan classes and doing some questions and maybe one chapter review of content. So when that didn't work out.. I knew I could have put in more.

[Not to make "excuses" but I'm in a nursing program where I had to continue my education into grad school. We'll save that for another forum. So there I was, wiped out from the crazy 3-year program accelerated into 15-months. We're all Bachelor-degree holders and in many cases, 2nd career changers.. but unlike BSN accelerated programs.. this is a Masters, Entry-level program.. but again I'll save all that for another forum. So... there I was 2 weeks after finishing that crazy 15-months of no sleep, and everything you remember from nursing school.. and now in Grad school.. which is the most work I have ever experienced. While detoxing and adjusting... the 10 weeks of the 1st quarter of Grad school flew and most of my classmates have already passed their boards during the quarter... and there I was with my boards in one week after finals/one week before the next quarter begins. as you can see that was unsuccessful. And now again.. I thought to myself, I'm not going in until I'm ready... that was until I saw the April 1 passing standard increase... so although things weren't "ideal" in life... grandfather extremely not doing well... just began a new quarter.. I went in with way more studying.. but feeling guilty that I didn't get to do EVERY Q-Bank question, etc.. etc.. etc...]

So now here I am, the next day... unable to really sleep or relax because... as advised, I took my time.. and time ran out when I was in my 220's or something. I am aware of the "last 60 rule" to get an estimate.. but that worries me because my last 60 is a "tiring-after-160-or-so-other-questions".

I looked throughout the board and couldn't find anything recent on anyone experiencing time running out.. I know of one person.. who purposely took the 6 hours on her 75 questions and passed. But that's it.

Anyone? :uhoh21:

futureRn,

i'm sorry to hear abt your grandfather.

i have news for you though. i have a friend who ran out of time in her NCLEX-RN exam. she was at #240+. and passed! i guess if you did well on the last 60, then u'll definitely pass. pray hard. god bless u

So there is still hope.....thank you lovethisjob! Does anyone know if you there is a difference in mail time if you pass or fail. If you pass does it take longer to get your results through the CA mail then if you failed? How long should I expect to wait to get my results by mail?

Dear lovethisjob, Do you think you could ask your friend how long it took her to hear a response?? We're all just so curious. These nursing graduates are being such troopers it would be nice to give them more hope. Keep up the positive energy guys!

hi Beetle, yes i also used the decision tree. Lord help us!

I just checked this morning and it's been updated yesterday. must be sometime after 5pm because that was the last time I checked. Yes, "no news is good news".. but even though it's still early, like wdiehl, each day with no news seems like an omen :(

thanks "ipassedyay2006".. you're so supportive and encouraging.. it's definitely needed because this discouraging feeling dwelling in my stomach everyday is such a downer.

wdiehl, i'm not familiar with the pn format.. but i did just hear my friend's best friend just passed the pn and it took her 3-4 weeks as well. at least you still have a reason to have hope! :)

i guess i feel down when i had someone tell me that if i passed i'll see something in 2 days here in cali. but we all know that it took 3.5 days to update the site. but yes i'm extemely worried. :(

thanks lovethisjob.. i lovethisjob too. lol. wish i was working already. i get sad driving by the hospital i want to work at. thanks for giving me hope about your friend. what state was she in? and like ipassed, do you happen to know how long it took for her to find out?

i'm thinking for those of us who ran out of time, maybe there's more reviewing involved to get the proper estimate of the last 60. but then again it could just be all computer and immediate like those who end in 75, etc. lol, it's funny when we start overthinking. but we can't help it! thanks ipassed, you are so correct.. we're just trying to hang in there and be troopers.

beetle, i failed the first time. and my experience was... i had a friend take it the day after me. she had transcript problems and i didn't... we both kept checking in.. and when her transcripts cleared.. she begged for them to tell her if she passed.. although they weren't supposed to, they did tell her she passed and said that it would be online the next day. when she told me this, i knew that it must not be good for me. but i tried again anyway, and received the same response that my transcripts and files were complete, they couldn't tell me anything over the phone and that the letters haven't gone out yet. i didn't know what that really meant at the time.. but now i hear that if it's not up in the 2-10 days you find out the bad news in the mail in about 3 weeks. again presuming your file is up-to-date. and that was my case.. my friend found out immediately.. and i found out through the mail in that time.

so although i do know a few people who were told over the phone they passed but did not have their transcripts, i did have another friend beg to be told and they said they couldn't tell her over the phone.. but then she found it online 2-3 days later.

holy guacamole.

good luck to us all. it's great we have this support team to vent to and with to help get through it. no one else really knows what we're going through. thanks thread!

As Kaplan says, "I WILL PASS!"

Hey FutureRn,

Yes, I see that they updated the website. No luck for me either. I don't know if there is a longer review for our tests? Something is making the BRN slow down because of how long it has taken them to update. The BRN does a good job of keeping the whole process a mystery. All we can do is pray and wait for the mail to arrive! I'm glad we have each other to talk to for suppport.

another updated site to no avail :( i'm starting to lose hope. i called yesterday and i was told "it has not posted yet." i don't know what that meant.. but i'll try to stay positive. but i think i better start planning a study plan on top of my grad classes. :( Please Lord, let me pass!!!!!!!!!

how u doin' beetle?

I'm in the same boat as you. Still waiting to hear something. I'm thinking I'm going to have to take it again. I haven't got my results in the mail yet. When I called the BRN last week they also told me that my test had not been posted yet. Do you think that it takes longer for "timed out" tests because of the last 60 rule? (Grasping at "what if's") I better start a study plan too. I should just submit another application now so I don't have to be waiting on the ATT and have my 45 days turn into 90. I wish there was better news for us!

How about 265 Q? Still waitng for the result.Do we have to wait for recomputing the test?

so there is still hope.....thank you lovethisjob! does anyone know if you there is a difference in mail time if you pass or fail. if you pass does it take longer to get your results through the ca mail then if you failed? how long should i expect to wait to get my results by mail?

the mailing time really isn't affected whether you passed or failed. results do come depending on your local postal service. mine arrived a little less than a month.

here's a tip: if the letter comes in a small white envelope (a thin one), then you definitely passed! if it comes in a thick big envelope, sorry to say, but you didn't make it. it's thick, they say, because it comes with a re-application form.

goodluck! hope for the best...

dear lovethisjob, do you think you could ask your friend how long it took her to hear a response?? we're all just so curious. these nursing graduates are being such troopers it would be nice to give them more hope. keep up the positive energy guys!

my friend took her ca nclex-rn exam in hong kong. since calif does not give out results via the web, then, one just has to wait for at least a month to get results. it usually takes that long for letters from their bon to arrive. (at least in my country) however, in other states, its much faster to get results online, just about 3 days.

today for spring cleaning, i cleaned out my closet. i have lots of scrubs handed down to me from my mom who's been an RN for 26+ years. i used them all throughout my nursing school rotations. I kept them hung in the closet, anticipating that I would use them again soon. Today, I decided to fold them and store them in a storage bin :( it was such a sentimental experience. no i'm not "giving up..." but i realize i'll take them out when it's time.

oh thanks beetle.. i didn't know we could re-apply already. if we "get lucky" and find out we passed after all, will they refund the $75 reapply fee? are there other things we have to send that we'd have to wait for the official package for? i guess i'll take a look-see.. but i feel like i remember having to wait for the official package to do anything.. i can't remember. i'll focus on holy week for now.. and then face reality on monday :(

it's like i've accepted it as time goes by without my name on the ca website. but each new dayi look, with those last ounces of hope.... seeing that the site has been updated...and then don't see it again, i feel like i was re-stabbed in the heart :( and i have to pick myself up again. sigh.

good luck to all.

I run out of time !!! I took my Nclex today and I'm like freaking out!!! :( I think I did t pass! I took the hardest tess, they where all select that apply, math and the worst, put in order!!! Somebody give me some hope! Im nervous and I really think I didn't pass I did only 148 questions!!!
