time limit to retake NCLEX RN in texas

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi,

I have a question regarding NCLEX Rx exam. I graduated in 2011 and took the exam that year and failed, my brother was in the hospital after a traumatic injury and felt my mind was not focused on my exam. I was devastated and could not get over the fact that I had failed and I put it off until this year, unfortunately I have taken the exam 3 times and failed. The results are "near the passing standard" but not above. In the state of Texas, time limit expires 4 years after graduation and you cannot retake NCLEX 120 days from date of eligibility. I am asking for advise as to whether I may apply to retake NCLEX in another state since Texas will not allow me to retest this year due to it's expiration eligibility. Any advise is appreciated....thanks

No question about it go to another state!!

If you meet the application requirements for another State, you may apply to that State and take the NCLEX again. Once a license is obtained from that State, you can apply for an endorsement back to Texas; they may or may not accept it. It seems that multiple failures in Texas (but still managing to get a license elsewhere) can still result in obtaining a license eventually in Texas, people here have done it.

You should seek licensure from a State that you would want to work in IN CASE Texas does not endorse for you. Most of the time, though, it seems they will.

I am so sorry for your situation. Could you tell me which month did you graduate in 2011? May or December?

in the same situation.. so what did you do im not sure what i can do

Did you apply to the Texas BON? It's up to them, not Pearson. They have to process and approve your application, then tell Pearson to issue the ATT.

ETA - Just saw that was from last year! hope you got it figured out!

Did you find help? I am in the same position. Please let me know.....

Did you get to take the exam even after the expiration date. Did they issue you a license on the board of nursing

I'm in the same boat! Can anyone help? What state did you find to test in and what were the requirements? I've been calling state Boards today and will continue until i find one. Just seeing if anyone found a solution?
