Question about BRN in CA

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi,

Suzanne, you'll most likely be able to shed light on this, but if anyone has ideas, please share! My friend took the NCLEX in CA on Feb. 16th. She has yet to find out her results, and because most of our classmates already found out they passed, she's getting depressed. She called the BRN today, and the lady told her that her results were in, but they did not indicate if she passed or failed. Is this possible? Or is it likely that she failed and the lady just didn't want to tell her anything? She told her to call back in one week (by then 4 weeks will have passed).

I know they aren't supposed to tell you your results over the phone, but one of my classmates got his results that way. Apparently he asked to speak to his test evaluator (after waiting nearly 3 weeks for results), and the evaluator told him he passed. I couldn't believe it because I've read so many times on this site that they don't give results over the phone.

Any ideas? I'm trying to keep her calm over this but she's really getting bummed as the days go by.

The person at the BRN can actually get fired for giving the results over the phone.

Does she know for a fact that her file is complete? They will not tell you if you do not ask that. If even her Live Scan is missing, or soemthing is incomplete with it, or even just missing a picture, then nothign will get posted. I woudl; check into that first. And remember that each file is handled completely by a human, and no one knows where the file is in the pile.

Hi Suzanne,

She asked if they had all her paperwork, and they said they did. Should she specifically ask if they have everything, item per item--i.e., her picture, her fingerprints, transcripts, etc?

Thanks.

I have seen them take up to one month or so to notify a nurse that they passed. Even if they have everything now, it still takes two weeks for them to process transcripts, does your friend know when they were sent?

There are so many factors thrown into any delay with the BRN that one can get ulcers trying to come up with answers. Best suggestion is just to wait, not sure what else to offer.

Thanks Suzanne, I forwarded her your response and it seemed to make her feel better. Hopefully one week from now she'll get good news :)
