PVT good pop up...too soon??

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi everyone. I just took the NCLEX and finished about two hours ago. Contrary to most people, I didn't find it THAT hard. Well, I found it to be easier than Kaplan, at least. I had a feeling it would shut down at 75 questions, and it did! Tons of SATA, prioritization, and drag and drop. I know alternate format questions don't really mean you're above the pass line though.

Because it wasn't as hard as I expected, I started to think I failed. I walked out confident but the more I thought about it, the more I thought that maybe I found them easier than expected because I failed. Maybe I failed miserably in 75 questions! So the first thing I did when I got home is try the PVT.

I got the "good pop up" ("our records indicate..."). My question is, is it too soon to do the PVT? I'm scared I got the good pop up and will end up failing!

You may have passed, since it worked for others it will work for you. Please how hard are the SATA questions or were you able to narrow it down. Any tip will be welcomed. I am still struggling with SATA questions

Honestly one of my biggest anxieties regarding the NCLEX were SATAs and other alternate format questions. When I took the Kaplan alternate format test (all SATA/drag drop/ med calc), I got an 18% and I was devastated. Most of my other Kaplan grades were good, but the alternate format test was horrible! I had read tons of stories here of people who got about half their NCLEX as SATAs.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I can speak for my test. The SATAs were not as hard as Kaplan's. Most of the time I was able to narrow them down. Something I noticed was that the more sure I was of my answers to a SATA, the more likely my next question would be a SATA. When I wasn't as sure, my next question would change to a multiple choice. I don't know if that means something or not, but that's that. There were a few, of course, that I was unsure of. I think the most important thing is to not overthink on the test. If you don't know something, take an educated guess and move forward. This goes for all types of questions. If you selected an answer and are thinking about changing it, don't! Unless you remembered something that absolutely changes everything, it's best to move forward.

The odds are in your favor! I want to say the test isn't that bad, but again everyone's is different. I also may have found it not too bad (not easy, but not as hard as people say) because I failed miserably LOL. So there's that. But I wish you the best of luck :)

Congrats! The pop up worked for me too a few years ago.

How long did it take for your name to show up on the New York BON?

Thank you!! I knew it worked for like 99% of people but I was just afraid I'd be part of that 1%
