NCLEX Studying questions?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello everyone for those of you who have taken the NCLEX what can I expect? Which study books helped the best? Also, I keep hearing about passed with 75 questions! Does the test stops at 75 questions or does it keep going or what? Is that all the questions you have to do? Sorry, but I am a complete newbie to this and want to start studying early so I can be well prepared!

Thanks!!

75questions is just the minimum number of nclex-rn exam questions, but it can go all the way max to 265 until the computer estimate your competency (if you fail/pass). It's better if you pass it at 75, but there are people who fail it with 75 too. As for review materials, I can suggest the things I am using, Saunders for content review, Kaplan strategies book, lacharity's prio, delegation and assignment book, and exam cram. You can also read all the other threads here for other tips/advices re nclex-rn. :)

Have you graduated yet? This should be explained to you by your school, as well as how to register and some study materials to use. If you haven't graduated yet, then I would focus on learning the material in your classes and studying for your tests. Worry about the NCLEX later.

I used NCLEX-RN Made Incredibly Easy. It was a good resource that broke the material down by system. It had lots of practice questions and tests. It gave rationales for every question, which was very helpful. I recommend it. Saunders and Kaplan reviews are also good resources.

The NCLEX RN is a minimum of 75 questions and a maximum of 265. The computer grades you as you answer each question. Once it determines that you are either above or below the passing line, the test will shut off. So if you are significantly above or below the passing line the test may end at 75 questions. If you are borderline you keep getting questions until the max of 265 or you run out of time (6 hours). So it's possible to pass and fail with 75 questions.

Okay thanks so much everyone! No I have yet to graduate, but I want to start early so I can be ready for when the time comes :) I can't wait
