NCLEX 75 q's how I DID it..and what do others think is the best way to pass?

  1. Hello, recently I took boards in NE on 6-27 after graduating with my BSN. With god by my side, I passed in 75 questions on my first attempt and spent a total of 50 minutes on my exam. During my time of study, I was anxious , and contemplating on whether I was studying correctly. Without a doubt, I did everything I could. I used ATI, Saunders 2017 Q&A, NSCBN learning extension, Kaplan cat, and even used a tutor for priority and delegation questions. The tutor was amazing , analeise RN at caring4u.net. She truly helped me get the ABC crap out of my head for boards.NEWS FLASH, yes during boards ABC is irrelevant. If anyone is getting ready for boards I gotta say, use your exam strategy and nursing knowledge/ critical thinking skills to understand what the question is asking. After my exam I did the "PVT" and got the "good pop-up". Honestly, save yourself the worry and don't do that. I had myself straight geeked out for 48 hours......The longest 48 hours ever. Anyways i wanted to hear the stories of others. JN

CONGRATULATIONSS!!!! Recent NCLEX taker here as well. I actually took it today. lol
I honestly was such a nervous wreck the hour after completing it. My test shut off at 95, and I couldn't believe it. I was finally done with the test Ive been dreading since starting nursing school. I constantly debated whether or not I should do the PVT trick.

My mom picked me up because parking wasn't good where I tested. (Maryland) I got some food and got my mind off of it, came home went to sleep and when i woke up I was a nervous wreck again lol, SOOOOO i did the PVT. Im not trying to count my chickens before they hatch just yet but I got the good pop up. I know it hasn't been 24 hours yet but I really needed to do something.

I used only uWorld, but completed virtual ATI through my school 4 months ago. I worked on UWorld for the month of June, did 1200 of the 2100 questions, and got 55%. I wanted to push the date of my NCLEX but my uWorld was expiring and money was tight so I just went ahead for it and tried to be confident in what I learned. I prayed through out the exam and hope I can come back and say I got my license!

Congratulations! Please, can you elaborate more on why you said ABC was irrelevant in the your exam, so it did not work for you or it just doen't work anymore, is scary though! Thanks for sharing your experience.

Passed in 75 as well! Used kaplan exclusively and would do it again without a thought. The rationales weren't always the best but it gave difficult questions that made nclex feel super easy. The rationales for the QBanks were pretty detailed in my opinion and included videos and content. If I had to redo all my studying I would use Kaplan again exclusively. I personally don't think purchasing a bunch of products would be very helpful and would be a lot of money for ultimately the same outcome. If you read the rationales (especially on QBank questions) you get enough content review in my opinion. If there's any topic you're not confident on, there are usually videos that can quickly review the topic, or you can quickly refresh yourself by reading up on it if necessary.

You need to think nursing logic. such as which is urgent instead of what the symptom of a disease is. for more information go to caring4u.net . the tutors name is annalise RN she rocks. again sometimes its ABC but don't just look for the first "airway" answer. if you use your "nursing logic" you will think the nuclei is easy. honestly U world and lippincott will help you think this way. I also recommend the Kaplan CAT exams.

I think what gives us issues is this...
We already formulate an answer as we read the question. What I have found useful is to read the question and not look at the possible answers. Then reread the question and look at the answers. Really knowing what they are asking is key to passing, and using your nursing knowledge.
