Materials allowed in the testing center

  1. Let me just start by saying that I'm a terribly visual learner and have to put problems on paper in order to best solve them. I've been using a dry erase board to plot out math problems and do some writing of rationales while taking my practice tests and just came across a thought. I know there's a list of things not allowed in the testing center, but no one has ever mentioned pen and paper or a dry erase board. Someone please tell me this is something that other people have thought of and it's acceptable to have in the testing center.

They provide you with a dry erase board and marker or paper and pen..depending on the site and you're asked if you'd like earplugs.. You're allowed NOTHING else in the test area...and I mean NOTHING. Not your watch, not a drink, not a snack...nothing.

You're not allowed to erase what you write and you have to turn it in after testing. I was surprised at how strict they are.

I assume that means you get to have them erase or get a new one if you fill a dry erase board up?

I'm just excited to able to use one. Did you find it helpful to have such access?

Honestly, the only time I used the dry erase board was for questions where I could eliminate an answer so I'd write it down (without any identifiers) to remind myself not to consider it again. Then I'd mark a single line thru it after answering the question. I didn't have any math calculations so didn't have a need there.

Anything with study material on may lead to a forfeit on results. We have seen a member post they took a study book with them and took it into the test center and it caused problems. The center will provide writing material and will keep it when you finish

You cannot take anything in there. The only thing was the dry erase board and the marker. He gave me a Kleenex for a runny nose. You are not allowed to erase the dry erase board, they give you as many as you need if you fill them up. At the end, you have to turn them in with nothing touched or erased.
