Just failed Nclex-RN - Hints on Studying

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I just failed my first Nclex-RN and off course I'm dissapointed since I tought I was well prepared for it. As soon as I walked inside of that exam room I realized that my anxiety level was going to interfere with my concentration abilities. For those who just passed, Congratulations! maybe you can share some ideas on how did you preper yourself for the exam, and what techniques did you use to keep your level of anxiety to a minimum? I appreciate your input, thanks.

Pray? It worked for me for every nursing school exam I ever took. It didn't give me a perfect score but it relived any anxiety knowing that whatever the results, it was according to God's plan for me.

Try to take a review go to http://www.nursingreviewonline.com. they helped a lot of people passed.

Pray, study and practice Q&A a lot.

A friend of mine said she thought that the mosby book mostly resembled the way nclex was presented. If it helps any I don't think that was a test you can study for...I think it is all in test taking skills. For that I would try the Kaplan book at Barnes and Noble, or I purchased mine online ebay, current 2007 bk, for 11.00. Good luck to you, as I always tell my buddies, we didn't make it this far because we don't know the material, I seriously think it is all test taking skills and axiety!

Many, including myself, have had success with Suzanne's plan.

I would not recommend the Kaplan course if you are looking for their guarantee. A previous poster found out, after not passing the first time and paying for the course, taking the NCLEX a 2nd time w/o succes, that Kaplan would not honor their guarantee as it was not his/her "first" time taking the test.

I looked into the NCSBN online review course as the price is reasonable, but decided it was not for me as I can't stay disciplined enough for online classes.

try to read saunders. that was the book i used when i took nclex exam. also see to it that you answer 200 questions per day. its tiring but it works for me. i can just easily recall some information that can help in taking exams. also i would recommend that you used kaplan test questionnare. its pretty tough but it helps a lot for the preparation of nclex.... good luck to those who will take the nclex exam. don't forget to pray and believe in yourself that you can do it. be positive....

What is the woerst thing that will happen to you the next time you take the NCLEX????

Nobody will die, relax, study and don't give up.

I am in the same situation. Unfortunately I failed the NCLEX also I found out today. I had 75 questions. I took the Kaplan class and I did their questions but I guess that was not enough. I am now looking to Suzanne for her plan since I have to wait at least 45 days before I can take it again. I was very discouraged about the results but I know that God did not bring me this far to leave me. I will just start studying all over again using a different method and wait patiently to take it again. I hurts really bad to have to sit through that again.

im in the same situation w/ 75 question and failed last march 22. dont give up and cheer up.... keep trying, work hard, focus on test strategies and practice alot of questions and answers. hopefully, we will get it.

but this time i changed my strategies. i stick to one book w/c saunder comprehensive book w/ cd plus delegation and prioritize by mosby. im taking this coming july 23.

im using this strategies b'coz in my evaluation report "im near passing standard and 2below passing standard " its means im close to pass the test. hopefully i will make it this time and success.

wish me luck and pray for me........................... atleast, i passed my lpn the following day i took my rn.

why don't you try suzanne'sp plan?

Thank you all for the input and support, I really appreciated the effort. I think I'm going to try Suzanne's plan. I do have Saunders' Comprehensive Review and also got the Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment book which can also be helpful.

I really dont want to wait longer than 45 days to retake the exam, what do you think about that? some people say it's best not to wait too long, and others say it's a good idea to wait much longer then that. The idea is to retake when you feel prepared for it but does anybody really feels prepared for the Nclex ever?

Tks
