Is NCLEX more like Kaplan Questions or Saunders Questions???

Students NCLEX

Published

Hi!

This is for the ones who have already taken the NCLEX RN and studied both Saunders and Kaplan.

Are the actual NCLEX-RN questions presented more like the Kaplan questions or the Saunders qustions? I have been studying both and note a huge difference in the way the questions are phrased and also the difficulty level of them with Kaplan being much more difficult.

Saunders seems to get right to the point and gives a good choice on answers whereas Kaplan has alot of extra unneeded info in their question format and two very close answers and some that we obviosuly not even touch base on while in school. It seems to be for the nurse who has 10 years experience under her belt.

Any info would be appreciated!!! I am doing the Indiana test.

Thanks!

I found NCLEX to be a style unto itself....but if I had to choose, I'd say most like Kaplan. Btw, it doesn't matter which state you test in...the questions all come from the same bank.

Kaplan! I just pretended I was taking a qbank or question trainer question. I did about 2500 kaplan questions. The questions from Kaplan are ALOT harder. I never got above a 58% on ANY of the tests, but passed. However, just to see how I was doing, I did about 300 questions from the Q and A book from Saunders.

I just took NCLEX today and I could swear I was taking a Kaplan test. The format and everything were just alike.

NCLEX questions are more like Kaplan questions, but I personally think Kaplan questions are more complicated. Saunder questions are much easier, but their rationales are excellent.

How many questions did you get? How long did it take you to do it? What was the main focus of the questions? Any math?

Sorry for so many questions......I am just scared silly!

Be careful - it's actually illegal to discuss NCLEX content...I'm pretty sure the comparison to Kaplan and Saunders is okay, but discussing a "main focus" and "math" is probably a no-no.

Hm.........I have read on other posts where people have said the focus was on infection control, no OB, one math question and some critical thinking about certain body systems. Other posters have said they got no math, mostly all endocrine and no OB.

I have absolutely no desire to know the questions...........but in the past there have been alot of posters who post what the main focus of their tests have been. Stemming from that onus, I assumed it was allowed to put that in print.

Perhaps not????

Is never a crime to share your experience after taken NCLEX. I have read so many thread about how people share thought not question from the NCLEX. The main focus of these forum is to share ideas and not to hide idea. :argue:

saunders is easier compared to kaplan. i think nclex is like kaplan when it comes to the level of difficulty of questions.

You can discuss type of question i.e. you had a maths/obs/mental health question you just can not post the actual question
