Nursing Students NCLEX

ok so yes, I failed the NCLEX, and yes, I am re-studying everything, working on suzanne's tip, and bought a book on prioritization by LaCharity & Bartz, which are all case studies on just that: priorities and delegation 'cause that dang test was ALL bout that. So here's where I need to vent....

I feel STUPID! and i'm not a stupid person, but doing these case studies, i get half of the answers wrong and when I look at the rationales- they get me so MAD 'cause we keep being told to not assume anything beyond what that question is asking, and yet the rationales come up with these answers that are like WAIT A MINUTE! That is nowhere mentioned in that question :angryfire

I have been told over and over again - do not freak out, don't let it get to you or you will fail again. YEa well, how can I do that if the questions I am reviewing and answering are making me realize I don't know how to do this!!!!!! ugh - i've hit the bottom pit of doom..... :banghead:

Hold on. Take a deep breath for a minute and think about what you're saying. You failed the NCLEX on the first try and now because you're having a hard time studying for a test that is important to you, you've suddenly become the stupidest person on the face of the earth?

Now relax. The NCLEX is hard. Every single one of us who has taken it (pass or fail!) thinks the same way. Most of us probably thought we were the biggest idiots in the world WHILE we were taking it. (Or maybe that was just me!)

When you're taking your review tests, do exactly what you've been advised. Read the information and the question, and make your decision. All the way through. No second-guessing. THEN, when you go back to check your answers, take a few notes. I bet you can see a trend in your wrong answers. If you can't, then make a list of WHAT you got wrong on each of the wrong answers. What did you miss? Make a couple of these lists and then look them over and see what pops up. Even better, find someone you trust and ask them to look it over and see what they find. It might give you a little more focus.

I promise, you're not an idiot. If you were, you wouldn't have made it as far as you have already :)

Hope you feel better now. You know you are not stupid. Lots of people don't pass the first time and they are not stuipd either. No one who graduates from nursing school is stupid. You just need to keep at it. Consider using Suzanne's plan, you can read about it in the stickies at the top of this forum. Lots of people are successful when they follow her steps. Good luck to you.

If you are using my program, or planning to, it needs to be done 100% on its own. Adding in something else and it is not my program and then will skew the results for you.

Thanks Suzanne - I'm confused though - I haven't started your program yet, I am completing th first tip, but I just read that you are no longer taking on new people??
