Got MY License in the Mail !! My Journey below

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

To recap my journey:

I was an LVN for a while and was too afraid to persue my RN for fear of failure.

The economic downturn forced me to reconsider and so began my Lvn-RN saga.

I FAILED 2nd semester nursing school by 1%. Cried, screamed, and was covered

in humiliation and embarrassment:blackeye:. I remediated and was able to return the following

semester.Fast forward to graduation day, which was remarkable and emotional. It was just

so much sweeter to me because my battle was uphill all the way. I was never an "A" student

but had a tremendous facsination with healthcare and people.

OK, Kaplan..this was the best gift my school provided for us 4 free. I used Kaplan solely. (This is what worked for me but it may not work for u). Although I have terrible test taking anxiety, Kaplan made me feel pretty darn comfortable with this test. And of course I said a small prayer before the NCLEX:nailbiting:

After the test, I felt extremely confused and bewildered. I had no idea what happened and if I passed or failed. I flew home and decided if I didn't get the good pop up I would :

1) PUKE

2) Take time off and then go back to the drawing board

I got the good pop up..."Our records indicate''.. please contact the BON"

Wow, I think I passed somehow? Not celebrating too hard, I checked the BON everyday all day. And in retrospect , I dunno why I scheduled my exam Friday because you cant get any results until the following week because the BON does not update on weekends...DUH!

Monday, no name...argghh

Tuesday am at 230, I see my name! What was so magical is the 2 letters behind it...RN!:woot:

3 days later, my license is in the mail.

I applaud all of us in the profession and encourage those of you who may have fallen down to get back up and do it again. You decide you're destiny.

Congrats!!!

I am just wondering if you read the whole kaplan book? Or did you just learn from questions? I take my test Wednesday and I just feel like I know nothing. Did you leanr everything over again or you just focused on the things you knew you were bad at? tHANKS in advance for the feedback/advice! :)

I did q banks and q trainers only. I also read rationales to wrong answers and rationales to answers that I wasn't sure about. Plus I reviewed labs, major med classes, infection control. Check the 35 page guide out floating around Allnurses. It was gr8.

Good luck, u can do this
