Feeling Stressed for the upcoming NCLEX EXAM

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I graduated the Vocational Nursing Program in December and i'm taking my NCLEX exam on the 20th of this month and i just wanted to hear any type of feedback from anyone who has taken this test. I live in southern california and i'm wondering what kind of questions am i going to encounter during the exam. I've been studying my NCLEX book from Mosby's for the past few months, studying labs, and what not. However, I haven't been studying at a consistent basis and i feel like i'm not ready to take this test. I feel too overwhelmed with it and i have major doubts that i'll be able to pass this thing. Although i've stated that i have been studying, i still feel that i haven't been studying as much as i should. At the same time i feel like i don't want to overload myself with studying to point of exhaustion. Overall i just feel scared, or frightened about this test knowing how much this test will have an affect on me. If anyone can please help me out by providing some kind of feedback, that'd be great. Any advice from actual nurses would be very beneficial to me. Thank you

what up bro. ive been an LVN for about 5 years now. i dont really remember what was on the test, but all i remember is that i felt the same way you are currently feeling.it is all natural. you have 12 days till your test right? my advise would be study all the weakness that you have for 7 days for about 5 hours/day with 30 minute breaks in between each hour. then i would study everything else the remaining days. by the 10th day if you still dont feel ready, i would reschedule. by the way, i just graduated from the RN program this past dec and originally my appt for my boards was on 3-25-05, but i felt i wasnt ready so i resceduled for 4/1/05 and found i pass on 4/5/05 with 75 questions. pare, you can do this! just believe in what you know and you will be fine! good luck to you!

Well good luck to you, I took the NCLEX-PN on March 18th, and I didn't pass, But believe in yourself and relax before the test those are the two things I didn't do and I believe in was a big factor I crammed the night before and didn't get much sleep, I let the anxiety get the best of me and set myself up for failing. I think you should do the practice questions, and on my test I had a lot of cultural questions (which I ignored while I was studying) it was sad coz when I came home I looked at my book and it was there right in front of my face, so don't overlook anything and don't memorize learn to apply and why they apply (critical thinking!!) and prioritize (ABC's & Maslows), and my other classmates had a lot with pt & family teaching!! hope it helps, good luck I'll be crossing my fingers for you!

hi iwannabeaLVN,

thanks for sharing your experiences..

truly a great help for us all who's going to take the exam soon. :)

Again, thanks for your responses. Like i've stated, i graduated in December, so after that i went into studying. I went to school took a lot of practice tests and studied the book. However, for the past month and a half i kind of slacked off and now i'm forced to cramm all the information that i learned this past year into one week. In your guys' opinoin, should i post pone this test or should i keep the schedule? I was thinking to myself that if i feel i'm still not ready by next monday, i'm going to cancel the test. What do you guys think?

Wow maybe this post is to late, but I think you go with your gut, I felt the same way did the same thing, I studied right after school for like 2-3 weeks, then I slacked off and I didnt feel ready but everyone told me you can do it... and I could have if I put more into it, but don't let me discourage you I think you know best whether you should go or not, but if you done a lot of practice questions ('cause my school test were nothing like the nclex) then I think your on the right track, Just take a deep breath and do it, its what you sacraficed all your time and effort doing, the hard parts done (school) just time to make ends meet!! Good luck and my prayers are with you!
