My :heartbeat goes to you... I took failed the first time I took my NCLEX-RN. But....I picked myself back up and decided that I wasn't going to let the NCLEX get the best of me. So I took some time off to recuperate my brain.

The 2nd time...I found Suzanne's Plan. You can find her first tip at the top of the NCLEX forum. It is a sticky (well was before they changed the website :D) and the heading says "Suzanne's Plan." Just read and do what she asks of you...all you need is one book, which is the only thing you will pay for.

I followed her plan for my 2nd go around at the NCLEX-RN. I passed using her plan. It works! Just stick to it and do every step.

I am wishing you much success and will keep you in my thoughts. You can do this!!! :saint:

I just left you a PM with the thread of Suzanne's Plan. Again...GOOD LUCK!

thanks!! i think i really need it this time... i really need to pass it,,, thanks!!! :redpinkhe:redpinkhe:redpinkhe

I failed my nclex-PN the first time I took it. I was SO sad and so lost on what I did wrong, since I was a straight A student in nursing school. It really brought me down, and in Michigan you have to wait 3 months to re-take the exam. by this time I had already tried to re-study and couldn't get back into it. I then got a job at an ENT office as a receptionist. There was a nurse I worked with that found out I had graduated from nursing school and wanted to help me pass my boards. she was also a teacher at a local community college in the area. Which I had not attended. She had me go thru the MedsPub.com program and take the refresher. where she was my teacher. It took me MONTHS to get the courage up to finish the class..as it was an online class and I went at my own pace..while working as well. When i finished that I signed up for my test..which also took a lot of effort because the NCLEX and failing it again was my worst fear. I just re-took it Dec 13th and passed!! :) The test shut off at 85 questions and I felt as thought I knew the questions! which wasnt very common to hear..so i was nervous! Some of the questions were almost or were identical to the exams i had taken on medspub.com It was an expensive program but it was very very worth it!!! I suggest medspub and Kaplans book. I have also used a book called exam cram that is made by pearsonvue which had VERY difficult questions in it...if you can answer those..you are for sure ready!! All I can tell you, is don't let the nclex get the best of you. If you have made it thru nursing school you can for sure make it past this little step! Something else you might want to think about is do you have test anxiety. I do. and I didn't realize this until I was done taking my nclex the first time. I got 205 questions the first time and didn't remember even being able to read them! I remember shaking. and picking any answer just because it didnt shut off yet and I was getting even more anxious. I did take an anti-anxiety before taking the nlcex the second time and it helped more than I could have ever imagined! I wish you the best of luck! and i hope my story inspires you to look up and realize that you arent the only one!! and I know you can do it as well as me!!! If there is anyway else I can help please let me know!! I want you to feel the feeling of seeing "pass" as did i! :) Good lUck You can do it

I understand that you have used the saunders questions...but are you doing the questions and reading the rationales that go with them....Understanding why??? the answer or getting to understand critical thinking component is the important thing on the NCLEX

I have a classmate who had to take her exam 5 times...than my bestfriend took it once and failed...went back 4+ years later after independent studying and passed the NCLEX-RN the second time around. Someone who has been out for 4+ years...I would think that really has lost all the skills she was taught and her critical thinking...had to retrain herself....she did by answering questions and understanding the rationales. Also, I put in my own time with her to reteach her the nursing skills (foley, suctioning, etc) We did study together on topics that she was weak in. It really helped her....and part of the reward was seeing her with a huge smile on her face when she passed a few weeks ago.

Perhaps you can find someone who you can buddy up with and study together. Maybe that will help you see what your struggling in.

I have all the faith in the world that you can pull through this!!! I am routing for you:yeah:

Suggest you start studying again as if it were your first time and use Suzanne's plan. You can read about Suzanne's plan in the stickies at the top of this forum. Good luck.

Your post was inspiring do you mind me asking how long was inbeween your testing, I failed the NCLEX, and have been working, and finished school 8 months ago... I feel like its almost hopeless now, its getting so far away.

i took my 2nd exam after 3 mos... i study sooo hard.. i read the exam cram book, and finished the cd, but still failed..

whoooah! hope we could get through it... i feel hopeless too... :zzzzz:zzzzz:zzzzz

I felt the same way!! When the nurse has asked me if she could help me to pass them I thought there was no hope for me and I had already accepted that I was just going to forget that part of my life..go back to school for something else if i wanted or work the job I was working forever..and THANK GOD! that I didnt give up! DONT GIVE UP!! the feeling of passing is amazing..I can't even explain the relief you will feel and how proud of yourself you will be! ! ..I took my boards the first time in july of 2007 and then again in December of 2008..so over a year..I gradauated from school in may 2007...so you still have a chance! you need to spend TONS of time reviewing med surg..I did and that made me have SO much confidence..it does come back to you once you read it over. I also want to tell you want happend to me for waiting over a year..in case it is the same in your state...you get 6 chanced to take the boards...and in my state.. i dont know if this is for every state...but you have to take it 3 times in a year from when you took it the first time..and since i didnt take it at all in the first year..I was required to take a refresher course..and show proof that I did so..and then when i finished that i was then allowed to take my boards..and it was considered my 4th try...when in reality it was my second time...so if that is your case as well! DO IT! and sooooon! put everything else away and spend all th time you can studying! it is SO worrth it! If you end up having to take a course it ISNT cheap! it ended up costing me 400 bucks plus the 200 for thee test again...if you have the money def so the medpub.com thing..the questions are soooo much like the boards..it is def worth the time and money :) IM glad I could inspire you! do the test again!! i believe in you! :) keep in touch!
