Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

hello guys..i just bought a book by lacharity entitled "Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment: Practice Exercises for Medical-Surgical Nursing"

is there abig difference between the book that i bought and her other book entitled "Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment: Practice Exercises for the NCLEX Examination" ?

is my book good enough in preparation for NCLEX? or it's just a waste of money?

:confused::confused::confused:

It is not a waste of money if you use it. The newer book is more up to date with more useful examples as stated by someone who compared the two. Perhaps you can check the older edition out from a library and compare. Most authors improve their works in subsequent editions based upon feedback on their first book.

thanks caliotter3..

so does that mean that the book that i bought are not only for med surg? i'm just confused because the two book have different subtitles one is "Practice Exercises for Medical-Surgical Nursing" and the other one is "Practice Exercises for the NCLEX Examination"..

I would guess that the title refers to more specific content in each title or the authors wanted to put the NCLEX phrase in the title for more book sales once they found out that people were using the book specifically for this purpose. I have not looked at the books myself. I do know that people say the original one was helpful for the NCLEX. I would not get wrapped up in the differences in the two books, it can't be that much. You should be interested in what you can get from the book. If it bothers you that much, then get both editions.

yeah..that's my plan..i'm planning to finish the older edition before trying the new one..

anyway..thanks for all the info..it helped me alot..

I just picked up the second edition of Lacharity. I never had the old edition but the new edition states that it made changes to include more focus on evidence-based practice and more questions about specialties like peds and psych in addition to the med-surg questions. I like it so far.

thanks shockable_rhythm for the info...now i know what's the difference bet. the 2 editions... :)

I have a question on this book. This book has questions and is configured that the lpn/lvn can do teaching, assessments. I always thought and RN cannot delegate teaching, assessment, or evaluation to lpn's. Don't know if I should listen to the book. Any input on this would be very much appreciated.

I didn't think this book was much help. It was ok. I would say to prepare for nclex, go through saunders. Big book with thousands of questions. Covers everything. Make flash cards while you go through it. I took kaplan too. Was ok and good and all for $500??? But think saunders helped me best.
