Bad popup 2018 need advise!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Okay...so here it goes...This is my second time taking the NCLEX RN. I took the test yesterday at 330pm and after 4 hours and 200 questions later my computer shut off. I was a mess...I kept getting repeat questions about community health nurse education as well as a TON of SATA. I also got a lot of "follow up" questions. I didn't feel good about it before, during, or after taking it. The first time i finished in a little over 100 questions and failed. This time it was double that and i am a complete frantic wreck.

I tried the "PVT" when i got home and several times after that. I have read so many back and forth forums about the PVT. Some say you have to use all correct info on your cc and others say you can change the exp date. People swear by both tricks. I however did the one with changing the exp date. Every time i got the "declined" message. Is there still some hope that i passed? ALSO yesterday after my test was complete i raised my hand and was escorted to the front to sign out and do my palm scan the lady was left scratching her head bc it would not let her sign me out because my results were already sent out and the computer signed me out of their system itself. Has anyone ever heard of that? Immediately i was like that is a bad sign I must have really bombed the test. I just don't know what to do anymore. I have studied my ass off and used several different resources. Any advise on all of this would be helpful.

I'm so sorry that you didn't pass. I kept reading and hoping for good news for you. I've always had test anxiety as well and did poorly on many of my class exams. I really liked Neats' advice. That might be helpful to you going forward. Keep your faith! You will get this!

Well my BON is good at keeping its application status updated. After searching for my name in the license look up section and looking to see if my quick results were ready i got to thinking that i should look at my application status.

7/2 UNSUCCESSFUL letter sent.

so i did in fact fail. I knew it.

I guess the pvt is in fact accurate.

I feel so defeated and just completely heart broken. I dont know where to turn. I dont know what more i can possibly do. My testing anxiety completely takes over my soul when I am taking the nclex.

im so sorry to hear that i retook my nclex-pn for the second time & i actually felt extremely positive i prayed before, during, & after, after i went up to 205! so i was kinda spooked, i got a ton of sata, uap delegations, pud, dvt, prioritization, few med questions about 8 drag questions etc. mixed around some questions were really easy i felt the more excited/positive i have ever felt until i decided to try this darn pvt trick and i entered a valid card with a $0.00 balance on it & to my luck i got the "bad pop up" I'm for california so unfortunately we don't have quick results but i can't hep but to feel so devastated i let my children down once more i also never put myself out there and have posted for advice and i get views and no one willing to help I'm in the same boat but we should keep our heads up and pray and continue to be positive only god knows why we didn't pass this time but i wish you the best of luck and i bet you will kick the nclex's butt next time dear

I just wanted to reach out to you because I am in the same boat... I studied like crazy and I've always been an excellent student, I had one of the highest gpa's in my class and graduated with honours. I was in the 97th percentile on uworld and I re-did the whole q-bank after I finished it. I did lacharity twice, hundreds and hundreds of questions on Saunders, read the damn book cover to cover..I feel like I let everyone down, and am extremely disappointed in myself, and I've been crying non-stop for the last 2 days. Feel free to pm me, you're not alone!

Thank you so much I felt so alone on this ans I studied so hard as well hardly slept! I'm praying so hard that I passed and trying my best to be positive I'm going to pray for you too don't cry I know it's hard not to but what can we do if we fail just hit the books again and not give up! Ans likewise if you need anything feel free to pm me as well I only studied my labs & did Uworld and I had a very high chance of passing according to the assessment test in my Qbank I had a 64% score so who knows hopefully I get a letter this Thursday

I'm so sorry to the OP.... you mention test anxiety, and may I just say: I have always been a strong test-taker, never had anxiety....Until the NCLEX. I asked for the ear plugs you can request from the proctor, and yanked them out of my ears 2 min. into the test - I could hear my heart beat with them in, my BP was so high!

I had a friend in nursing school who I studied with. She always knew the material as well as I or better, but she failed out due to test performance because of her test anxiety. She is doing MUCH better this time around: our school offers free counseling, and she found a counselor who specializes in helping those with test anxiety. They coached her in deep breathing and other relaxing techniques. Is this something you could look into, through your school or otherwise? It sounds like you've already invested in test-taking materials, maybe some investment is needed in this area, since you've already prepared by knowing the material.

In my required ATI NCLEX prep-course, the representative cautioned us to limit our prep materials to one or two companies. Granted, she could just be protecting ATI's interests with that bit of advice, but she did say, "even if you do not choose to focus on ATI after this course, you will confuse yourself if you use too many programs. Sick with one, or two at most."

Good luck in your future endeavors....I'll be sending good vibes!

I'm so sorry to hear that you didn't pass. Don't let it stop you from moving forward and trying again though. You can do this.

I took my test this morning. It shut off at 75 questions, 46 minutes. I felt horrible walking out. So many SATA! So I tried the PVT and I got the good pop up. But I'm still not convinced. I don't even know if it's possible to get the good pop up and not pass. My anxiety isn't going to diminish until I know for sure.

What did you use to study. I think the rationales from U world helped me a lot. I'm really sorry you didn't pass.
