I'm trying to decide what NCLEX review course to go through. Kaplan, Meds Pub? I don't know...what did you use and why?

TIA!

When I graduated I used Hurst Review Services and it was the best thing I ever did. You can also see that some folks on allnurses have used it as well and loved it. The website is www.hurstreview.com. It is in my opinion the best live review out there. If your senior class is interested they will actually come to you and do a live review. It's not like any of the other reviews where they read to you either. There are set instructors. Some other companies like Kaplan will tell you to find and instructor and they will provide the material. How boring! Hurst is fun, upbeat and so funny! You will not forget what you have learned. I still use some of the material in my practice today. You can even watch a sample lecture online! Good luck and PM me if you have any questions!

I haven't taken my nclex yet but right now I am doing the NCSBN review for information, I have the Kaplan book for the strategies and I just purchased the Mosby CAT NCLEX for some additional questions and because it correlates your test to the probability that you will pass the NCLEX. I am happy with all three so far but then again I haven't taken it yet.

Thanks for the information! I checked out their site and sent them an e-mail. I am our class facilitator and I want to find us the best review for NCLEX. (Highest success rate, best price etc.) Hopefully I'll hear from them soon...

Thanks for your information...I am really interested, though in a live review course. A course that will come to our college. We will definately be hitting the NCLEX review books as well and websites, but I also want the live course. Thanks!:)

Hurst Review (www.hurstreview.com) all the way!!!!!!!!!!!

I did Kaplan. I wasn't so impressed. I think I could have done just as well using the Kaplan book that you buy at the store, and doing lots of questions. I bought the Saunders book that came out last month, today. It looks really good. I've also been using the Made Incredibly easy book, Mosbys book, the Chicago Review, and the Mosbys CAT. The CAT is good but I the questions repeat alot. I've done it three times and it always cuts off at 75 and has said that I have a 92-99% chance of passing.

Good luck to you all.

The new Saunders book includes 250 of the new alternate style questions.

Thanks for your input! I think I have decided that Kaplan is not the review course I want. Thanks! Good luck to you as well!!:)

TexasCCRN,

Thank you so much for pointing out the Hurst Review site. I know I've got to get through nursing school first, but I like to collect information that I will use later. I just spent some time looking at the site, and I was impressed.

Thanks again,

Kris

No problem! I just want to use my past experiences to help nursing students. It is such a stressful time already. I would suggest you taking the review before you start clinicals because I wish I had. It helps you understand things so much better. Marlene gets comments all the time of people wishing that she taught nursing school. Once you take the review you never have to pay for it again no matter how many times you take it. Take it from me you are poor around graduation time, so spend the money early and take it early. The most important part is that you will learn so much and it will make class and clinicals much easier to bear! Good luck with school.

When you mean that you can take the review again, that means that you can go to another 4-day session if you already paid and attended one?

Again, thanks for the link and the advice.

Kris
