[color=#333333]i want to write this blog because a week ago, i came to this website everyday for mental support. i came out of nclex-rn feeling like i completely failed it.. i rolled up in a ball and cried for 3 hours when i came home. now i just want to tell my story so hopefully it will help relieve some anxiety for another rn soon to be![color=#333333]
[color=#333333]coming in to the test, i was confident but scared. after questions flowed by, i was feeling good.. until question 73.. knowledge question. question 74 knowledge question.... question 75 knowledge question!. bam shut off... worst off, i went home to check that i got the last 2 wrong. holy crap, i cried.
[color=#333333]i was literally in shock... " what what... i'm not done!!!!!!!!!! u can't shut off on all knowledge questions on me... the hell. noo!!!!! u didn’t give me a chance!!!!! there and then i called my mom and told her its over, i failed it. she's like.. oh well i'll pay for your next test.. i was like no mom i don’t' wanna take this over again!!! oh man the feeling you get when you feel like you've invested so much into it and this is all you get. 5 years of nursing school and you shut off on knowledge questions on me?!?!?!
[color=#333333]so i took kaplan and completely wiped out q-bank, and also purchased nclex 4000 cd ( really really helpful btw), and read the entire saunders book. i recognized all the questions i got. but i really wish kaplan did some anxiety coaching on the fact that my last several questions can indeed land on knowledge questions ( probably they were experimental), so i wouldn't freak out like i did! i think they should tell students the difficulty level of the question does not determine how well you’re progressing! cause i swear most of the test anxiety arise from the fact that everytime i see a knowledge question i’d feel like i missed my last one.
so anyways, i found out i passed this morning... yahhh!!!! :bowingpur:nurse::typing
[color=#333333]so for future test takers here are my tips… please don’t freak out if you see knowledge questions. know your infection control (which is droplet, airborne, contact).. i got a gazillion of those.. a gazillion of “select all that apply”.. pearson vue trick does work. 75 shut off is a good thing. if you can, take your boards on a monday or tuesday because i took mine weds and got my results 6 days after a super long wait since friday boards is closed (california for july 09). make plans post- exam so your days can flow by faster for the wait period. also breathe, and take care of yourself. you can do it guys! =)
