Hello fellow healthcare workers!
This forum is soliciting your ideas and routines to care for kinky, natural hair while working in hospitals and/or around patients.
I do not wash my hair every day, or even every week sometimes. It depends on if my hair needs it or not. IF I were to wash my hair daily, for working in hospitals/around patients, my hair would become extremely unhealthy from the constant shampooing OR from sitting in a wet bun for 12+ hours. (My hair takes a long time to dry with or without a blow dryer). Any suggestions on care for kinky, coily hair?

Not really hair tips, but with Covid, lots of coworkers (myself included) wear scrub caps. Various designs available. So, can protect your hair a bit from the cooties.

Another vote for covering your hair at work. In normal times it’s not necessary but with COVID it just seems prudent to wear a hair covering when you don’t plan to wash your hair after every shift. With COVID there are tons more scrub cap options, they make ones that accommodate longer and fuller hair styles like more of a buffant style. I see tons on Etsy in particular. With a fresh cap every day you don’t need to worry about changing your hair care routine from something that’s already working well for your hair and scalp.

I do not have your hair type, but I only wash my hair 1-2x/week to keep it healthy. I do pull it back in a ponytail so it’s out of my face, though. I don’t wear a cap, generally. I don’t see any reason to change your habits unless you feel you need to. In that case, I agree that a cap would be helpful. They have cute ones on Etsy.
