National University Cohort 63

Published

Hi all! I wanted to create a thread for Cohort 63 for application period Feb 2020. I’ve been a national student for almost 4 years. I’m taking my teas in December to hopefully score above 90 to be competitive. My GPA sits at a 3.5

Hey everyone!
im applying to the absn cohort 63 with a teas of 84.7 and gpa 3.75. I’m thinking about taking the teas again but dont know if it’s worth it. What is everyone else applying with??

Hey! I'm applying. I also have an 84% on TEAs. I took it a second time and got a 79%, I was shocked at how much harder the second one was.

What did the advisor say was competitive again? An 86? I'm hoping 84 will be sufficient. I'm taking BioStats now, if I get an A in that class I think i'll have a 3.5 gpa. I'm also applying under a second bachelor's.

My advisor said an 87% was the competitive teas score....we’re so close! She told me to retake the Teas so I’m bummed to hear it’s harder!

Yeah. That's so funny that they have a competitive score because it just depends on what applicants who are applying have. My friend got in with an 84% on her TEAs. I'm almost certain she had a 4.0 though so i'm sure that boosted her.

Are you applying to other schools? I just applied to CSUSM.

I applied to Grossmont, Palomar and Mira costa and didn’t get in.... so now just national and if I don’t get in need to take more pre-reqs for csusm. The struggle is real lol

What was your point total for Palomar if you don't mind me asking? I'm looking into that school as well but I have like 75-80 points. Honestly, National is my first choice just cause it's so close. CSUSM is the only other school that has a absn which is why I applied. I assumed that the cost of these schools deter people and make it less competitive but I guess it doesn't matter lol. National probably makes so much money on their biostats class.

Are you applying as a second bachelor's degree student too?

I had between 79-83 I believe...depending what they awarded me for extra points but I must have applied with a very competitive cohort. I’m going for my absn too, definitely will need loans for national if I get in:/ San Diego is one of the most competitive places to apply I’ve heard too

Checking in- I have decided to retake Micro at Mira Costa to bump my gpa to a 3.8. I’m still studying for the teas, but I know my gpa isn’t competitive enough, and I’d be banking on a high teas score to just scrape by. I might still apply in feb if I get 90> on the teas.

Good luck! I'll be applying for cohort 63 too as soon as I'm done with Biostats the end of this month. I'm sure this thread will start getting busy soon!

I talked to a friend of mine who knows someone who got an interview with a 3.3 gpa and a 86% on the teas. I might apply in February and just cross my fingers that I get an interview!

Yeah it never hurts to try! A professor of mine at National says there have been students who got in with a C in some of the pre-reqs. Are you applying as a second bachelor student @Jessica Werner?

I wonder if they give any sort of bias or priority to second degree seeking students. Specially considering most absn programs are generally for those who already have a degree.
