Application cycle for 2014 is now open again...who is applying? What is the HPSA score for your facility? Please share your story if you're applying or are a previous recipient. My facility score is 17 and I know of 2 other NPs that are receiving it right now that work with me. I heard last year they were unable to fund anything below 14. I really hope I get it as I have massive amounts of loans but I am worried as the competition is stiff!

I don't think you can apply if you are an RN. It's only for primary care providers...MD, DO, NP, PA and dentists etc. From what I understand, they only had enough funding for tier 1 facilities last year. Debt to income doesn't matter-they only asked for student loan info, not income info.

I was funded last year with a site score of 13. I think they give more funding each year to NP's which is why I made the cut.

Wow that's awesome! I thought they were only able to fund sites with a score of 14 and up? It even says that on their website. Good for you. Are you working full time or part time?

Yes I have wondered about that! I even re-checked my HPSA score and it still says 13. I got funded late in the cycle, maybe I was really lucky and there weren't many 13's accepted. Who knows. They most definitely funded me ! I'm full time.

You just need a hire letter from a FQHC by the deadline. You are not required to have already started in the position.

The funding is supposed to run out in 2016, which is when I'll be graduating and applying for loan repayment :/ Really hoping that funding gets extended beyond 2016...
