HELP!, I'm new to the Nashville area and would like to know which hospitals were good or treated nurses descently. I am looking for a change from another hospital, that treated me like crap. I know nowhere is perfect, but could someone shine some expertise on Nashville hospitals:uhoh3:
My personality type is that I'm a city girl, that keeps to herself. I like to have help with aides and techs as a nurse. I don't like gossip and hospitals with a history of discrimination with nurses.

I went to a job fair at UMC last year. As soon as I walked in I realized I shouldn't have. Those women had to be the snottiest bunch of you-know-whats in Lebanon.
Made me sick.
I like to keep to myself, too. I think I'm looking for the same thing in a job as you are. Let me know if you find anything.

My SIL worked at UMC many years ago. I didn't hear anything from her that made me want to work there, for sure.
It's been a long time, but the experiences I had at Vandy were great. I learned a lot & was treated respectfully most of the time by physicians and fellow nurses alike.

Many years ago, UMC was owned by a completely different hospital company, and you're right, the nurses were not treated well. That is NOT the case today, and with Shared Governance, the nurses have a large say in what goes on within their unit. I would ask Willdgate what she did to change how she was treated by the techs? YOU'RE their supervisor, and should have been part of the solution. Quitting is never the answer (or were you asked to leave?) There's always two sides to every story.......
As for motorcycle mama, that job fair hired over 25 nurses who are very happy at UMC. Perhaps there wasn't a job opening for a home care nurse?
They're really a wonderful group of nurses at UMC.... :yelclap:
cudlsnhugs if you did not agree with what I said you should have not responded to my post. Also, I never mentioned a name of a hospital. Yeah, their is two sides to a story and I was mentioning my side. calm down and get real.

Ummm...this forum is here to promote discussion and disagreement is part of discussion and there is nothing wrong with somebody publicly disagreeing with you.

You didn't have to name the hospital, as there's only one in Lebanon.
I'm very real, (and very calm ) and I appreciate those who have pointed out that dissention is welcome. After reading your other posts on various subjects, you may need to rethink your career choice. Nursing isn't for everyone. The UMC peds staff thought you were going to work with your sister at Vanderbilt?? Maybe their preceptor program would be better for you as a new nurse starting out....
Best of luck! :typing

I was at that job fair too and I thought they were some of the nicest and most accommodating people. After a year working in Lebanon I cannot think of working anywhere else. UMC is a fabulous place.
Willdgate, she was only giving her side, so your response was inappropriate. Because you choose to argue, I now cannot believe much of what you say. You lost credibility by your negative comment just because someone chose to disagree with you.
