I have an been an LPN for 6 years! I love my Job! After working SNF for a few years, moved to assisted living. Definitely different. Great facility so once they opened a facility
closer to home it was a no brainer, however, we have the most narcissistic, self
centered, Executive director i have ever met.We have gone through 3 Directors of nursing
in 1.5years. she is a bully to the residents, makes threatening comments t staff about
their jobs and not to mention, allows inappropriate people to move in for the sake of
additional rent. She micromanages and does not allow any department to make any decisions
she has gone as far as telling the chef not to speak to a particular resident because he complains too much...Really??they pay her salary, Everyone notices what is going on and is absolutely petrified of coming FWD...I dont want to quit, i have opened that building and feel and sense of responsibility to my residents... Please advise

What a shame to have one person making it miserable for everyone and I would especially take offense if she isn't treating your patients kindly. Perhaps start writing down specific incidents so you have a record. Do you have an anonymous hotline? Have any of the residents or their families complained?
i have contacted the local ombudsman, and so far have sent a letter to corporate this week and i am waiting on a response. Don't know what else to do. I honestly have a great staff that i am about to lose due to this person. They are breaking their back with "two people assist" patients that we are not supposed to be there...i am the interim DON but she will not make me official due to knowing what im capable of doing. We have had words but i refuse to walk away from my residents..They're entrusting us with their care... and their dignity...We owe them that...

Lol! I thought you were going to talk about how Emergency Department staff love their jobs/themselves too much!
Just hang on, these types of off-balance people eventually make their nature apparent to everyone, including those who write their paychecks. Just keep your chin up and do a good job, she'll likely be gone soon.
