Name that antibiotic - peptazocin (?)

Hey there,

I'm working on a care plan and I forgot to write down one of the antibiotics my pt is on. My instructor verbally relayed that it's called 'peptazocin', or something similar, but I can't find the correct spelling of the drug. Anyone recognize what she might be referring to?

Thanks a bunch!

Oooo...good one. :) My bet is you're looking at a combo drug: piperacillin + tazobactam. Check those out. Good luck!

I bet anonymousstudent is right...the brand name for piperacillin+tazobactam is Zosyn :)

Hmm, those names sound right but I know they were given separately, both by IV, run at different times... could it still be right?

It was for pneumonia, if that helps. :)
