I am incredibly nervous about my vitals sign skill check off this Friday. I am practicing taking a blood pressure and am noticing the sound disappears before the needle stops twitching! Is this normal, or am I deaf? For some reason I have been dt
Omg my big thumb always seems to send in the post before time! Ughhh
Well I was saying, I have this fear I'm deaf but I feel its irrational and I'm really not. I'm 19. Fyi. But is it normal for the needle to move after the sound has disappeared???
And I notice the sound towards the end becomes a woooosh

This link has a video about BP sounds. I found it really helpful. Assess BP based on what your ears hear, not what you see the needle doing.

Taking blood pressure is a very basic, but important skill, that you will be doing a thousand times a day. My trick is to find the brachial pulse first, then put your stethoscope right on top of it. It is easier for me to feel for it when the elbow is slightly bent, also try moving around your fingers, because sometimes the pulse can be hiding under a ligament. The ticking motion the needle makes is a good indicator of when the pulse is occurring, but always go by what you hear.
My hands shake so much. I got taking the BP down. I got it! (= today I decided I KNOW how. I can hear it. I just need to keep my hands from shaking.. well tomorrow is the exam and now all I can ask is that GOD illuminates my mind. and keeps my hands still
