My TEAS prep plan! Any good?

Hello everyone!

I'm going to be taking my TEAS in February, and I've created a general plan for preparing for it. How does this sound..?

Resources:

ATI TEAS V Study Manual (2 practice tests inside)

ATI TEAS V Online Practice Tests (2)

Youtube TEAS V playlists

1) Without looking at ANY source material, take the first online practice test in the morning around the same time as the actual test.

---- Gather scores and dedicate study time based on lowest to highest scores

2) Begin studying all sections each day, for one week, utilize YouTube if needed

3) After week one, complete manual practice test #1

---- Reevaluate scores, compare progresses/weaknesses, determine goal scores for sections

4) Another week of all sections, working through all each day with YouTube if needed

5) Take manual practice test #2

---- Reevaluate scores, fall back on study time for any areas meeting goal score, focus on scores not yet meeting goal

6) One week of focused section studying, reviewing goal-met sections as refresher, watching and reading Internet sources to improve any consistently weak areas

7) Take online practice test #2

By then it should be the first week of February, and I'll just review and rest (read: try not to freak out) before the test the week of the 17th.

Hi there! I just took my TEAS this morning and I got a 83.3%. That is better than 93% of the nation's scores! I used as many online practice questions as I could find, as well as the ATI Study Guide and YouTube videos. I studied like crazy! I still only got a 62.5% on the Science portion, but the national average is only 53.6%. My advice - study, study, study your Science facts. The ATI Study Guide is pretty good and covers everything you'll need. I studied for about 3 weeks total. Any more would have been overload I think. Good luck!!

Thanks! I've read that I should concentrate on the science portion. If you don't mind my asking, what area (subjects) of the science section did you have trouble with? I had a poor chemistry professor, so that's an area I'm very nervous about. :nailbiting:

It sounds like an alright plan, maybe a bit of overstudying, IMO.

Let me tell you what worked well for me (we're all different, so this may not work for you). I read the ATI book cover to cover, putting tabs on the pages I needed to review. Then I went back and focused on that stuff. That was it. I got a 96%.

Don't stress yourself out so much! :)

Thank you for replying!

I know it's probably overkill, but I attribute it to having everything else go wrong, delaying my entry into nursing school by 3 years now. This is last thing I have to do before applying, and I don't know what I'd do if something happened that delayed me further.

I just took my TEAS this morning. I used McGraw Hill's 5 Practice TEAS Exams book and it was very helpful in all areas but was off base a little when it came to the science portion. I just feel like they cant fit enough information in to a practice test to adequately cover whats on the exam. My science portion felt pretty heavy in general chemistry stuff such as ions, periodic table, chemical equations, and common reactions. If I could do it over, I would have purchased the ATI study materials as to get a better idea of the types of questions they ask. I also would have dove a little deeper into general chemistry review (not just glimpsing over and saying "Oh yeah I remember molarity"). The types of questions in the TEAS use more critical thinking than the questions in my McGraw Hill book did so make sure you aren't just memorizing. That being said, I made an 84% on my science and a 89% overall but boy did I study and stress for that grade! Good luck!
