Well, i was a silent reader in that site and finally i'm talking about my own experience on the nclex-rn. i am a foreign nurse from the caribbeans( graduated in 2007) and i've been staying in the US 2 years ago. I took the nclex in sept 2012 and failed. I thought that i could pass it on my own with my own strategies. Well, don't get me wrong: i never fail in anything in my life before and took this failure really bad.
It took me about two weeks to finally forgive myself and start again. so i decided to take a review with kaplan( classroom anywhere). I already knew that i had to schedule my test back for december because my credential papers would expired in oct! I register with kaplan in oct but would have my live classes 2 weeks before ky exam date ( if u guys see what i mean! I register 3 months earlier to have plenty of time to do the qbanks, the content videos and all the other requirements before starting the live classes) This strategy helped me a lot.
It took me 1 months to do all the qbank (was doing 50 questions a day). I did all subjects at a time and after i finished i did the one i didn't find.
I obtained 56% on the diagnostic test, scored around 50s and 60s for the qbanks and started to have good score on the one i was retaking. My readiness was 63,qt1 61,qt2 60,qt3 67,qt4 59, qt5 65,qt6 66, qt7 61( i did that last one 2 days before my test day.
Test day, went to the same place as the last time. Was scheduled for the 8 am test. I wasn't stressed at all because i was confident. It took me 2 hrs to complete 79 questions and did the pvt and got the good pop up.
Guys, God is good, pray, pray, pray, believe in yourself and stay calm....
My experience:
I did 265 questions the 1st time and failed. this time i had 79 questions, had about 10 or 12 SATAs , a lot of priority questions, meds and conference questions. The conference ? i just looked for the subject and answer them as normal questions.I definetely think that Kaplan review course is the BEST thing you can offer yourself for the nclex because the questions were exactly like i was doing either my qbanks or my q trainers so if you guys can afford it go ahead...
Good luck to everyone and feel free to ask me any questions. If i can help anybody, i will be glad
