Today from 1-4pm I will be throwing myself a pity party, decorations optional (LOL)
This is more or less a paragraph or two or three or four (five, six, seven) to get this off my chest, some self therapy.
I lost my job with a local VNA, they shut down- out of business. I am a great LPN, I absolutely loved that job, great hours, great $$$ and I had great co-workers. I do currently have a part time job but, the pay is peanuts. I have 4 weeks left of savings before I have to skip on bills. The kids might have to give up t.v. and be forced to play board games!
I have been actively searching for a new job since November. I have awesome references and copies of my employee appraisals showing what a good -no wait a minute while I toot my own horn- a great employee I've been. I have had my cover letter and resume critiqued by my previous and current supervisor and it's good.
I've been able to secure two interviews. The first job I did not get, due to lack of experience in that area. I must have did something right because I was called back 3 times. I was told the other person had been doing the job for years. They said they would keep me in mind for other possibilities. The second interview is scheduled next week.
If I could only line up some interviews where my charismatic personality would shine (sigh)! Believe me I am not being picky, I apply everywhere.
I'll be a RN by the end of the year (or maybe sooner since I have tons of time to study) but I need work now. As of last night I have now extended my job search to include department stores, I'm waiting until I'm completely desperate before applying to McD's.
Thank-you for reading and allowing me to vent. I'm heading to the party store for some black balloons and maybe a roll of streamers.... black glitter confetti too?
p.s. I actually did a search of my name to see if any other people out there sharing my name could be a convicted criminal... nope and I also don't smell or look or sound weird :)

Awww. Sorry it's been so rough. I've been in your shoes. Have you tried looking on your State or federal government employment board? Sometimes you can find odd little gems there.

Lay-offs suck.
However, with your experience, I'm sure you'll get something in no time. :3
Thanks, I felt much better after whining :)

I brought a surprise to your pitty party called UNEMPLOYMENT. I hear unemployment is good even with a part time job. It can hold up / keep you entertained till your pitty party is done when you finish your RN program... =)

Sorry I'm late but I brought a bucket for all the tears! :) Since misery loves company I will tell you that I am pretty much in the same boat. On a happier note I haave had the same "lost the job to a more experienced nurse" thing happen and they called me back 2 weeks later and said she didn't work out. If they said it they meant it. I am certain that you will find something that will work for you and your family. Good Luck with the job search~ PS. the kids won't die if they have to do something other than watch TV. Trust me. I know from personal experience! :)
Thank you all, I have a great sense of humor and use it to get through tough times.
I've been down and out and can remember living off pancake mix because it was just add water LOL
While I am no where near those living conditions again it helps to get it out (can't complain in front of the husband-it makes him nervous
A little update: Today I was offered a per diem postion with a company.
They are a little start up company that offers in homecare to children. 1 to 1 in schools, outings, group homes etc.
Now if I can get them to give me extra hours :)
I still have a lot of resumes circulating for some full time (I hope) work.
