hi all! well i passed my nclex-pn and i just figured i'd share my perspective. the test was strange. very hard to describe. nursing process, psych, some labs, pharmacology and about 1/3 of the test was sata ?s and 8 order of process. i found the wording weird and misleading and some were hard to tell what they were asking for. my computer shut down @ 85 questions. i was both relieved and sick at the same time. i took it with 2 other buddies from school and they felt the same way. much to our surprise we all passed! I used, exam crams, kaplan, and saunders book and cd. and all i can say is that i'm happy it's over and i have my life back...wooohooo i'm a nurse!!!! time to party!!!! doing the happy dance with my kids and no more studying for me!!!!! yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and once again this forum is an awesome resource for info and support so take advantage of it. i can't tell you enough how much this has helped me!!! ;D

I prepared myself a lot. I would get off work 2 hours early for like 2 weeks, then the last week I left work 4 hrs early to study (4 hours was good...we don't want to over do it) and go and review Kaplan 2012-2013 Nclex review book, i learned the decision tree, the type of questions and how to eliminate them, and did some of their practice questions. I did take the Kaplan on line class right after I finished school- it was $500...however, once you take the course you have to do the study plan it suggests you to do...review the content it has...do q bank questions for practice...and the most helpful of all do the questions with the instructor (they have during the course and a pre-recorded video to do it after the course)...she goes through many questions with you showing you how to choose the best answer..finally, review your most common labs and know the norms. Learn the ABG's when its respiratory or metabolic alkalosis or acidosis, and most common abnormal EKG such as A.fib, a flutter so on...oh..brush up on your math..do not take it unless you have reviewed the main things and the most important thing of all ask God for clarity, for wisdom, to free you from confusion...do this while preparying yourself during your studies, and of course before..during..and after the test thank GOD!!!
Thank you!!! good luck to you. you can do it!!
What state did u took your nclex ? Thank you
I took mine in AZ

Hiiieeee so labs as in lab tests or actual values??
Learn what lab test are for what diagnosis, such as BUN & Creat. are to test for kidney problems, or which lab test is to detect liver damage, or Thyroid issues (TSH)...and of course normal lab values...learn the "fish tail" for serum and for whole blood.
I placed the norms in the fish tails, then just wrote them over and over until I memorized it.
I received my official license in the mail exactly 8 days later! (AZ)
