So I just took my Peds exam today and got a 77. Our passing grade is a 77.45. Normally, my grade isn't a big issue since classes average out all exams and clinical grades together. However, my Maternity/Pediatric class states on the syllabus: "A grade of 77.45% is required on ALL objective tests for passing theory portion of course." We only have 3 exams total. One for Maternity, one for Peds, and one Final.
Does it make sense to fail a student cause they failed 1 exam?
I got an 86 on my first exam and a 77 on the second. I am praying my professor curves but its highly unlikely since they didn't curve the previous one.
Any advice?
(This is my second time in this nursing program after failing out back in 2014. This is also the farthest I have ever gotten in the program. With COVID and everything, I don't know if I can hold out for another year to retake the class.

You’d have to check with your program. For mine it has to be an overall passing average for exams, so you could bomb one but if you crushed the other two you’d be fine (as long as the average is 77+)

I would clarify it with the instructor. When I was in school, the grading system was that you had to have an average of XX on the tests before adding in assignments, group projects, term papers, quizzes. So, if passing was 75%, you could not average 74% on tests and have the rest bring your class average above passing.

Yes, if the expectation is you must pass all exams with whatever minimum score so you need to clarify that with your instructor. There must be a cutoff point/minimum passing score set in any program, and whether you miss that minimum score by one point or by ten is irrelevant.
I speak from experience. I flunked out of school my first time for failing a med math test because I didn't take that cutoff grade point seriously and missed passing by one point. I had to rejoin the next class cohort and sign an agreement setting a minimum GPA I had to maintain to stay in the program.
