Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. Sac) ADN 2023 Prospective Students

Published

Hi Everyone!! Just starting a thread for Mt SAC ADN Spring 2023.

Welcome!! This thread is for all those prospective students who have applied for Mt San Antonio College's ADN program for Spring of 2023.  It'll be great to get to know each other a bit before January, so feel free to tell a little bit about yourself.  Also, please ask any questions you have. Let's help each other out as we all hope to get in the program this Spring!!

Okay, so I'll be the first to respond.

I'm too old, let start there!! LOL! Anyway, most likely the oldest applicant, but that's okay, you're never to old to try something new. I was a teacher most of my life, many different levels, KG to College, but I've always had a passion for medicine. In my early years out of high school, I just lacked the confidence thinking I couldn't do science. I was totally wrong, but it took me many years to figure that out. Anyway, I'm shifting gears now, hoping to get into Mt Sac's RN program and then eventually be a family nurse practitioner and work in a hospital. Nothing seems more exciting to me than being a FNP!!

So, I have my BA (Business), MA (education), and PhD (Business), but business and education just have not excited me like medicine does. I currently am also finishing a graduate certificate in Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. It's through taking anatomy and physiology and the classes in this graduate certificate program that I really knew my heart belongs in healthcare.

I'm so excited to get started and be a part of the program, so I'm crossing my fingers that my 78 points is enough to get invited to take the TEAS!!  I look forward to meeting others through this forum and Good Luck to Everyone!!

Hi Nicole!

So glad to have found your post for Mt SAC, I hadn't seen one until now. This will be my first time applying there and I have 82 points. Wishing us both the best of luck this application cycle!

HI Sweet Bread!!

Yeah someone to join the group!! Welcome!  That's great you have 82 points.  I'm sure you'll make it in. I'm totally nervous; I feel like I'm on the edge, and it's so important to me to get in. Anyway, all we can do is hope for the best. Did you just graduate from AA or did prereqs? Where are you in the journey?  Well, glad to have someone to wait with!!

Thank you!

Yes, I actually earned two AAs in my prereq pursuits so I'm finally done and just applying to programs now. 78 points is still competitive, I wouldn't worry too much about receiving a testing invitation. You got this!

The only bummer for me about Mt SAC's application process is that it seems I'd have to retake the TEAS again, despite having scored advanced the last time I took it. Are there any other programs you're applying to?

Hi, Thanks for the vote of confidence.  But NO, I'm not applying to any other programs, only Mt. Sac because their points system is favorable to me unlike the others. I get extra points because of my bachelors and healthcare experience, so even though my grades drop me a bit, my application is still more competitive than other programs because of these extra points. Anyway, so it's an all or none scenario for me. If I don't make it, I'll try again in Fall, but I really want to start in January, so wee see.

It's great that you have two AAs already!! Are you applying to other programs too?

I'm really rooting for your acceptance this Spring! My approach was a bit different as I really can't afford to wait around and reapply in the Fall. I have a healthy list of programs, both ADN and BSN, I'm applying to this Summer in the hopes of starting early next year.

LA County's program was the most generous, giving me 92 points (if all goes well). It is also my first choice as I live and work only 10 mins away.

That's great!! I know you'll get in you. You have super odds. I hope it is to where you want to go!! Hopefully soon some other people will also jump in on the thread. It's great fun to see how everyone progresses.

Well, it's officially 8 days after the deadline to submit applications, and I haven't heard anything yet.  Also, I realize now that Mt. Sac does still do a lottery system, so even if you meet the point cut off, you may not be invited to test since they end up pulling names regardless. Anyway, you never know. Hope I make it in.

don't worry, I’m sure all of your hard work will pay off with some good news soon?

Still waiting to hear back. Any news for you guys?
