I'm in somewhat of a more uncommon situation. I will graduate from my program as a nurse generalist with a MSN degree. However, I want to be a NP, and hopefully enter a DNP program next. From what it seems, most MSN degrees are geared towards a specialization of some sort and subsequently, all the DNP programs I've looked into seem to require you to be an APRN or have some sort of specialization prior to admission (which I will not have). Does anyone know of any DNP programs that take nurse generalists without having to redo the whole BSN to DNP route? OR, any post-masters certification type programs that don't require me to go back to school all over again and get another degree as an NP? Thank you!

Google 'post-master's nurse practitioner programs' and pick from among the hundreds of programs available.

I have an MSN in Inormatics and I can do a DNP from there at Duke. One of my ADN classmates got her MSN in Finance/Administration and she has completed her DNP at Duke. I am not sure what I want to do. I think I might do a post-masters NP to do staff diabetes education. We have a state school (several in the NC system) that offer programs. The one I want to go to only does DNP post NP.
Shop around, there are programs that will do a DNP. If you want to teach, you can get an Ed.D. It is a terminal degree. I am taking a break from school right now.
