Moving to Tulsa Area....Saint Francis Hospital at Broken Arrow?

Hello everyone, I currently live in Joplin, Missouri and work at Freeman Hospital West Campus. Due to my husband's job transfer, we will be moving to the Tulsa Area next month, very interested in Broken Arrow specifically. I have already obtained my Oklahoma Nursing License - one less thing to worry about, right! Now I just have to find a job, and quick!

I have heard good things about Saint Francis Health Sytem, does anyone know anything about the Broken Arrow location? What about Broken Arrow in general? Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks,

Nichole

I have lived in the area for four years now. can't complain it is a nice place to live. Dont know how it compares to Joplin but you will probably like it.

As far as St Francis hospital Broken Arrow goes the building is still there but it is all but moved to the St Francis Heart hospital at 91st and 169hwy. Now the main St Francis at 61st and yale is still there and getting bigger as we speak, so I imagine which ever you chose there will plenty of oppurtunity for growth in you career.

Hope This helps

The Broken Arrow facility is essentially just a rehab type of facility. They are in the process of remodling the SF Heart facility to make it Saint Francis South. Bother ERs are open but on small scale. Just across the highway from SF South is Southcrest. Both are very close.

I currently live in Broken Arrow. As others have said, there isn't much going on at St Francis BA. I did hear that they are converting Saint Francis Heart Hospital to another branch of St. Francis. As the someone else said, Southcrest is a newer and growing hospital in south Tulsa. Depending where you are in BA it's about a 15 minute drive, obviously if you are on the west side of BA it'll be closer (some areas as close as 5 minutes). I'm on the NE side of BA and it takes us 15-20 minutes to get there depending on traffic.

Thanks for the insight gals. I decided to accept a position at St. John's on the Ortho/Neuro Surgical post-op floor. Something new and different than what I am used to.

dangit - that's what I meant to say! 10east gets most of the general surgery type stuff. I remember when I did some clinicals on 10 east it seemed like almost everybody had a colostomy! LOL Congratulations!

Welcome to St.John. I currently work there in Staff Development. Hopefully I will get to see you in nursing orientation. When do you start?

I start July 16th. I'm not sure when I have to do my general hospital orientation. They did say that it is like a Mon-Fri week long thing.

I have aquestion though, as far as scrubs go, do different floors have different colors? What is the policy? I ask because at my current facility we can wear white and ceil blue on our floor with anything that coordinates.

All nurses in the hospital (except the mother/baby floor) can wear either all white or all wine scrubs. They like to have your name and credentials emroidered on (Nichole, RN or Nichole, RN, BSN whichever the case may be!) If it's on white the lettering should be navy blue, if wine use white lettering. If you go to any of the scrub shops in town they can set you up with the right thing. They all charge $5 for the embroidery.

Thanks for the input! At least for now I do have all white scrubs. I will just have to get the embroidery done. Hope to see you around!
