Hello, my name is Michelle and my husband and I will be moving to Fort Hood in Feb. I have been a RN for a little over 3 years now. I am in the process of obtaining my permanent license in TX so i have a jump start on things. I currently am working on a med-surge floor, but have experience with Neuroscience and Orthopedics as well. Can anyone give me any information on hospitals around this area and any pointers? Thanks!

Scott and White hospital systems pretty much have all the non military hospitals in the Killeen/Temple metro area under their umbrella. There is the military hospital at Ft Hood (Darnell Army Medical Center) but you have to apply via Civil Service criteria so that can be a long process I understand. There is the VA Hospital in Temple (also Civil Service) and some pretty decent LTCs in the areas to include the outstanding facility William B. Courtney Texas State Vet Home in Temple. (No I don't work for them lol but the State Vet Homes are truly awesome LTCs in Texas.)
So I would go the the Scott and White website to see what postings and locations they have open and google the listing for the other facilities I mentioned. Pay rates I am not sure about since they have flucuated in that region a great deal over the last decade.
