My fiance and I are relocating to the Phoenix area from Nebraska in the end of May. I currently have two different job offers at Banner Good Samaritan and have had interviews with Boswell and Maricopa. I am leaning towards Good Sam...should I be? I am just looking for some opinons about Good Sam. Does anybody have any experience on the Kidney/Liver transplant floor or the PCU?
I apprieciate any feedback, thank you in advance!

Search for all the old posts on this hospital, and you will find to run, run, run, the other way as fast as you can. They have a good public relations department for advertising for out of state recruitment, but once you get in, you find out there is a reason they go searching to other states where innocent people dont know how they are. They get them in with good relocation bonuses which require contracts, and if you quit before your contract is up, you have to pay them back.

I advise you to find a different place to work. I was relocated from illinois to work at good sam . I got the relocation bonus and I had to commit for 2 years. Their pay rate is not the best . Nurses there are overworked and underpaid. The majority of nurses there are from different states which makes it harder to find any friends at work. The attitude of the managements is so bad and all they care about is productivity. Patients acuity is very high. You rarely find enough help and they rarely provide CNA to help.I will call my experience as the worst I ever had . I was not able to take it for long so I quit after few months . So think twice before you take it . I heared scottsdale health care is one of the best places to work in arizona so check it out

As a fellow Nebraska to Arizonan, I would recommend Banner. I have had excellent experiences with them both with personal visits (mom's surgery, sister to the ER) and professional experiences (EMT clinicals at Desert). I definitely stick with Banner, as you always have a chance to transfer/ move up with the company, etc. With some smaller hospitals, this isn't always the case. I'm sure you already know Banner is valleywide which is great for any relocation you may need to do in the future.
btw, where from NE are you from? I grew up in Hastings so I was just wondering.
Good luck!

I actually worked as an LPN extern on the transplant floor when I was in the last semester of nursing school. Actually, I liked that unit. It was staffed appropriately on night shift.
I did not accept an RN position there because I was more interested in ICU nursing.
Thank you for all of the replies. I have taken a job on the transplant floor. So far its been wonderful. Great team work. Great management and great/helpful coworkers!! thank you for the opinions/advice!

There's a couple of "Arizonans for Nebraska" groups: http://huskerpedia.com/alumni/arizona.html I think they have a list of bars on their own websites.
Hope that helps!
